Took over the thread for EOJ.

I know not many people are playing this one, but I really think it's one of CAVE's best and most under appreciated in the west.  Perhaps we can do better than the rather pathetic thread over at shmups...

EOJ

This thread is already better than the one at shmups. Every high score thread is better here, as the scores are higher, and the tables are more detailed and always segregated in accordance with Arcadia magazine's score-tracking.  :righton:

Thanks, I don't know if dvd is really helpful ... there was already nice vids here and there ...
Also I think I'm getting more experienced in STG. I started playing those just a few years ago now, and with time I kept having a better understanding of STG (pattern/survival, scoring mechanism, various techniques...)

anyway , new score !

Bestial dude.  Congratulations  :righton:
Thanks !!  :righton:

Ok little up of my scores:

310,505,812,629 - としまと-HUU - 2-1 - C power - tsuujou loop

I tried one random credit in type B.
118,042,062,677 - としまと-HUU - 1-5(boss) - B power - tsuujou loop

And I did one ura score (you can tell because of the purple shining number for stage display), I tried to score second loop, but died many times so I didn't go too far in second loop...
288,241,359,605 - としまと-HUU - 2-3 - C power - ura loop

Congrats to HUU for being the first westerner to break 200 and then 300 billion.  Great scores man.   :righton:

Also nice on surviving Ura loop to 2-3, no mean feat!

I assume the 310 run chained most of stage 5?

Do you still play the game ?

It's a full chain on stage 5 with 2 (or 3 .. I don't remember) extra hyper on difficult parts ... I think counter was up to 22 000 hit ...
I trained on the difficult parts of stage 5, now I can do it without the extra hyper, so I can see the 400 billion score coming (I hope so !)
My score stage by stage is :
stage 1: 4.6 to 5 billion
stage 2: 18 to 22 billion
stage 3: 75 to 80 billion (no milking on boss)
stage 4: 160 to 180 billion (no milking on boss)
stage 5: I don't know yet, but i think around 410 billion (the way I chain now)

I tried a few times the milking on 1-5 boss, I think this one is not so hard to do ... so may be, with a 25 000hit counter, I could get some extra billions.
On second loop, I can chain pretty consistently 2-1 , 2-3 ... but it's difficult to train this loop because I don't get the same loop every time.
Between ura and tsuujou, the scoring/chaining is different because ennemies pattern are little bit different.
Yesterday I managed to get to hibachi TLB for the first time !! this boss is insane, in video it seems difficult but I thought with a good hyper strategy it was doable. But I found the speed of his pattern is just brutal ... and the last one, it seems you have to hold laser forever to hurt him. In power mode, with no bomb, you can't escape !
Anyway, patience is the key ...  :P

Not at the moment.  Have been practicing another game but really my time is just 100% for work lately.

Definitely will play Black Label when it comes out though.

DFK is one of those games that's hard to "go back to", but I really would like to learn the stage 5 chain someday.  I definitely have a lot of pieces of the level, but even if I chain to the second mid-boss, I have a hard time carrying the chain through him.

Good luck on 400 billion, your stage 5 sounds really solid.  I imagine you're hypering mainly after the second mid in the tank sections, but I could be wrong.  Congrats also on getting the stage 5 chain period, I mean that really takes some commitment.

Yeah beating Hibachi in power mode is probably up there with beating Mushi Ultra mode in terms of sheer difficulty.  Good luck with that one  ;)

HUU/adverse, do you guys have any way to record and share your runs?  I would love to watch some of them.

may be I can record some runs ... but I think you'd better see the official dvd. The dvd runs are far better than mine...

I'm waiting to see how the scoring works on this one ... it looks really different than 1.5.
My brother saw it at hey when it was on loc test, he wasn't so impressed about it ...

It depends, before you beated me with your score, I stopped playing the game for quite a long time... and even before that, I stopped playing because of sf4...
Of course it took a couple of credits to remember everything ... but it was still stored somewhere in my brain  =D

Good luck on 400 billion, your stage 5 sounds really solid.  I imagine you're hypering mainly after the second mid in the tank sections, but I could be wrong.  Congrats also on getting the stage 5 chain period, I mean that really takes some commitment.
I tried the "swy" way for stage 5, in the beginning , he does only one hyper on the purple laser, after for the next purple laser he destroyed them with his regular laser. Main reason for this is to have a rank 3 hyper for second mid boss, this way, you can easily dodge his attacks and kill him quickly with this hyper + refill your hyper gauge. Also this way, you get the extra ennemies all your way up to the "tank section". If you have a higher rank, it becomes very risky to kill him with one hyper.
So after trying his method, I find the beginning of stage too hazardous...destroying purple laser with a regular shot/laser, I did it sometimes, but it's not safe at all.
So my current strategy for this stage is:
1)hyper rank 5 from stage 4
2)rank 1 hyper (first series of purple laser)
3)rank 2 hyper (second series of purple laser)
4)rank 3 hyper (first mid boss)
5)rank 4 hyper (second mid boss for dodging his attacks and take him down as fast as I can)
6)rank 5 hyper (second mid boss when killing him to hold the chain)
This last hyper usually last until the beginning of the "tank section" and it ends with my gauge already refilled, then I keep the chain until the end.

HUU

I did a bad stage 4 ... I missed around 40billions there .. and also I did nothing interresting in ura loop, I died 4 times in a row on stage 2-2 trying to get many hits on midboss lasers.
Anyway new score :
353,944,122,943 - としまと-HUU - 2-2 - C power - ura loop

As brentsg asked for it, I uploaded my stage 5 full chain so you can see how it looks like... may be I'll upload a full run if I break the 400billions limit.
