I know the topic of "PS1 vs Saturn Donpachi" is a well-worn one, both here and over at Shmups - however, I've not been able to find any good comparisons between the generally-regarded as superior PS1 port and the original PCB on slowdown* (the SS port's slowdown problems are well-reported).

If anyone's familiar with both, does the PS1 port keep up with the PCB speedwise when there's a ton of sprites onscreen? I've been comparing both in other areas, through emulation, but every PS1 emu I know of eliminates original hardware slowdown.

It's additional slowdown that bothers me in ports, since I tend to play Cave games intermediately at best. If it's a bit faster than the PCB, like Batsugun's SS port, I'm cool with that. Thanks for any help!

edit: just realised this could've probably gone in the PS1 DP & DDP Port thread. >_> Sorry!
