Spong.com is doing a Cave Week thing with interviews 'n such. They kept saying at the October announcement for AKS 360 (by Rising Star) that a Vita version was announced also, but no source referenced actually said this.

In a strangely formatted interview with Hiroyuki Kimura and Hideki Nomura, one of them says this:
Quote? For Akai Katana Shin on Vita, one of our goals is to reduce the number of buttons as much as possible. That?s one of the reasons we?re really focused on this twin stick aspect of the machine.?

*shrug* so I guess it's a thing.

Here's the start of the interview http://spong.com/feature/10110561/Interview-Akai-Katana-Hiroyuki-Kimura-Hideki-Nomura done by a guy who still spells it "schmup"

There's absolutely nothing in the article that specifically says the Vita version is coming to Europe.  The "Akai Katana Shin will be published in Europe in early 2012 by Rising Star Games." doesn't specify which version is coming out but it would be safer to assume it's the previously announced 360 version.  I wouldn't presume anything more unless RSG says something themselves.

I kinda agree.

Got that Europe part from here.

QuoteIn an interview to be published tomorrow, CAVE World manager and contents creation group head Yukihiro Masaki said that it was a high possibility that the newly announced bullet hell shooter, announced for a European release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation Vita by Rising Star Games at MCM Expo in October, could hop onto mobile platforms.

Sketchiest announcement ever.

I wish I cared about playing shmups on a mobile device, then I would have enjoyed these articles.

Might be better to title this thread "Akai Katana Shin being ported to Vita" or something like that [EDIT: I just did that for ya]. The European version is far from clear at this point. But Vita is region free, so a localization doesn't matter that much.

This game doesn't exist, it's the result of a shitty translation or a completely clueless reporter from that website. Asada says someone asked him about the game today and he was shocked, saying that's the first he's heard of it. He says it's due to some misunderstanding. The game isn't in development, nor has it ever been planned to be in development.

Moral of the story: if a rumor sounds weird, and it's from a site that doesn't know anything about Cave games, it's probably not true.
