Here is what I have assembled so far

http://www.world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Hardware_SH3/Hardware.htm

This page will be updated when I get new info.

If anyone has a Mushihimesama PCB with a serial connector it would
be interesting to see if it outputs anything.

I have it rtw.
Also i have a Ibara pcb i bought this year and the board seems to be different to the old one,the sound button is like the last release, white plastic.

rtw: I saw your post over on killercabs.com about my Ibara BL. Would you still like me to post a picture of it, to see if any of the chips are resoldered? Let me know, I could post it tomorrow.

Yes I would like a picture :D

Violent Ken

I can post a picture too of my IKBL! ;)

EOJ

What is the Serial number on your IKBL, Violent Ken? Mine is CA-71081.

Violent Ken

Mine is IB-036

I have one of the first PCB release! ;)

Yours appears to be from the latest release of the game...

EOJ

Mine is from a newer batch, but it's just weird really. Others in the newer batch have been IB-XXX, one was IB-016, and I think GP's is IB-004.

I'm wondering if my Ibara(see pic) was a IBL in the past.

QuoteI'm wondering if my Ibara(see pic) was a IBL in the past.

Do you feel adventerous, could you connect a null modem cable to your Mushihimesama ?

Also on your IBL do the chips close to the sound chip look like they
have been resoldered ? I.e. brown residue from the flux on the legs ?

KOMA

Yes i could if you show me what cable this is?This pcb is faulty(miss one color ingame),i can make all test you want.

What number is the chip's sound. U22?

Well you need a null modem cable (DB-9) pins 2,3 & 7 should be all you need.
The RX & TX needs to be crossed, then you need a communication program.

Hyperterminal or ucon (http://microcross.com/ucon_install.zip)

Then you have to boot the PCB, and see if you get any activity on
the line. The comm parameters will be unknown so you will have
to try a few different baud speeds.

And yes U22 is the one you're looking at.

So, do you think you can reprogram the board if communications are active in the DB-9 port?

No, I am curious to see if there is some debug output.

rtw unfortunately i don't have this cable in my possession

Any chance of a picture then EOJ ?

It's a 9pin NULL modem cable. What kind of connector is on the
Mushi PCB, is it male or female ?

We need to get the connectors right as well, do you have a PC
or a MAC KOMA ?

Is it a Male connector and i have a PC.

rtw

QuoteIs it a Male connector and i have a PC.

Then we need a standard 9PIN female to female connector like this:

Any computer shops nearby where you live  KOMA ?

Thanks!

I need better quality...

If you look at the solder points on a Mushihimesama and your Ibara BL
and compare the chip with the green round sticker. See if you see
any brownish residue on the pins.

Your chip CPLD says Mushihimetama so this is an update.

Sorry, I took some more close up pics but they're blurry. My camera sucks. Maybe I can borrow my girlfriend's camera though.

I checked and they look the same - no brown residue on the Ibara BL. It does not look to be resoldered.

Yes, my board is clearly a Mushi Tama that was reprogrammed as an Ibara BL. The inspection date stamps on the back of the PCB are 9/2005 (for Mushi Tama) and 1/30/2006 (For Ibara BL).

Weird, maybe they resoldered the CPLD.

Please try to borrow your GF's camera.

CLPD looks the same - no resoldering. Why would they have to resolder anything? Couldn't they just reprogram the PCB? The Futari BLs are nearly all just reprogrammed Futari 1.0 or 1.5s.

It seems Cave can easily reprogram any SH3 board to be any game. Thus, isn't likely they can do this in a way that does not involve any soldering/desoldering?

EDIT: here's a close-up of the CLPD:

Not sure if that's any help though.

Because it looks like the FLASH chips connected to the YM770 are
not connected to the CPU but only the YM770. And the YM770 does not
have a JTAG input...

I need to measure the WE pin on the 29DL321.
