Welcome to the Pink Sweets ~ Ibara Sorekara high score thread.

Rules: no continues, and default live stock, difficulty, and extends. Submit in the order shown in the table. Since Arcadia tracks high scores for each of the four characters in Normal mode, I've set up a similar ranking system here to encourage people to score with all of the characters. There are also single tables for Extended, Score Attack, and Harder modes. Ver 1.00 and PCB scores are grouped together, while Ver 1.01 and Arrange mode scores are separated into their own charts.

Scores with an * after them indicate the infinite lives trick was used.

Key for all tables:

Probably my last score for awhile. Didn't quite make it to 12mil, but I'm satisfied:

NORMAL MODE - LACE
11,706,600 - EOJ - ALL

I don't get why your score is still so low, how often did you break your medal chain during this credit? I got 8,9mill at the beginning of stage 6 and I had to control rank. When you're on infinite lives you don't have to care about rank control too much and you should get at least 5mill from stage 6 alone.
What are your scores like after each stage?
A replay of an ALL would still be ace though.  ^-^

EOJ

I don't think my score is "so low" really. Try beating it, it's not as easy as you are assuming.

I broke my medal chain a few times, and had low medals throughout most of stage 6. The best run I had in that regard was with Midi & Meidi - I kept the chain up all through stage 6 and 7 in that run.

After you trigger the infinite lives, the rank is very high - much higher than anything in your runs! One death in a stage and you're in big trouble, in regard to score, as you have to revert to bombing for a bit until you can power up your shot again. And of course, while you're dying, you're also missing a lot of points. It really kills my score for stage 4 and 5.

You also have to get lucky on the stage6 boss. I didn't in this run (only one lightning blast two times). In my Kasumi ALL I got really lucky - 6 lightning blasts two times. Gave me nearly 2 mil on the boss fight alone.

I don't remember my scores after each stage in this last Lace run (I think I ended stage 3 with 4.6mil), but on a good run I get (w/ Lace):

st1: 900,000
st2: 3,000,000
St3: 5,000,000

After that it falls apart. I usually enter stage 6 with 6~6.5mil, get 3-5mil there, then 1-2mil in stage 7.

My best scores are definitely:

1)Midi & Meidi
2)Kasumi
3)Lace
4)Shasta

I'm proud of 1), somewhat happy with 2) and 3), and 4) really sucks. I really need to work on that last one.

NORMAL MODE - LACE
12,409,820 - EOJ - ALL

End of stage scores (approx):

st1: 815,000
st2: 2,870,000
st3: 4,700,000
st4: 5,XXX,XXX (really don't remember too well, I think it was 5.5~5.7mil)
st5: 6,500,000
st6: 10,900,000

Once again I got screwed on the stage 6 boss's lightning attack - only one blast (no turns) each time. If I could just get a few turns in each of the attacks, this would increase my score by over 1mil.

We need to see some videos EOJ. (Well, at least I do.)  :righton:  Maybe make a video showing triggers for the infinite lives using rapid B and (if possible) not using rapid B.

Great Scores!

EOJ

Making a vid of this is really hard for me as I have to use a digicam and I only trigger the infinite lives in one out of every 40~50 runs (if I'm lucky). So don't hold your breath. I also think I'm going to retire from this game once I improve on my Shasta score. I think I've reached my realistic limits with the other three gals.

All you really need is Galford's stage 3 harder mode vid showing him trigger the infinite lives. Watch that and use rapid B where I described earlier, and you're good to go, as the most crucial step in triggering the infinite lives with rapid B is the stage 3 midboss. That's basically how I learned to do it!

There is also a vid on Nico showing how to trigger the infinite lives on stage 5 without rapid B.

PS-If you don't have Galford's stage 3 vid, I'll upload it for you.

Does 1.01 have a loop or why is it 1-2, 1-3 in the ranking?

EOJ

No loop (unless you're in Extended mode), that's just how Cave marks the stages in the port.

Arcade Ver. 1.00

9,542,650 - Plasmo - Lace - Stage 6

This was a really bad run in many respects. First off, I've missed to trigger a medal fountain from a boat in stage 4. This absolutely never happens to me. I somehow had Wide Shot on and messed it up. Throughout the whole game I did so many smaller mistakes that my rank was much higher than usual.
The good thing is that I didn't die up to the snakelaser section and even did the fifth boss no miss. At the end I was so nervous that (as usual) my hands began to shake and I couldn't control my ship the way I wanted to. The two deaths at the very end are very embarassing, please overlook them.
The replay is up at 360 leaderboards. Could've easily beaten YOS.K.'s score with this credit.

At least it's a new highscore from me after all those years. And over 9mill, too. :)

Arrange
212,724,640 - EOJ - ALL - Kasumi

This score is not on the leaderboards as I did it offline.

One more credit for today

VER 1.01:

B,045,420 - Plasmo - ALL - Lace

So yeah, it took me around 10 credits. Broke my chain once or twice I think. Scoring was far away from optimum, just wanted to go for the clear.
My first and maybe last score for 1.01? I can't say I didn't enjoy this mode.

Of course I did not upload the score and replay to the leaderboards. I don't want to crowd the table with 1.01 scores. Such a pity it doesn't have it's own one... :-\

EOJ

Nice score! Wish you uploaded it to the leaderboards, though. You would have been #1 and the replay would have been nice to watch.  :)

One question: Why do you write the first digits of the score as a "B"? The in game score board doesn't have any letters.

That's exactly what I wanted to avoid. It's not fair to steal away the first place like that. Would be too cheap imo.
The replay honestly was nothing special. If other people post more 1.01 scores to the leaderboards so that it doesn't matter anymore, I'll get a better score and upload the replay.

You're right. The only place where it shows a letter is at the top of the screen when you're on a credit. I'm just a fan of letter scores following the Yagawa tradition, you can of course change it to 11 if you prefer it this way. ;)

Well, I see your point. But with the 1.00/1.01 scores mixed (one of the dumbest things Cave has ever done in a port, really), you shouldn't feel bad about getting #1 with 1.01 scores - it will happen eventually, so why not lead the charge? 1.01 scores will be higher overall, because it's easier to score without having to deal with mind-boggling rank. Same deal with MMP, but the difference in scores there is even more staggering.

Have you thought about having two Xbox gamertags - one for PS 1.00 and one for PS 1.01? This way you'll have separate offline scoreboards for each mode, and you can post scores online for both versions. I do this for MMP 1.00 and 1.01.

Will do that. I need a japanese account anyway to play MMP Matsuri, right?
This package is definitely too much for me. PS 1.00, 1.01 and Arrange would be quite a lot, but then there's the whole MMP content...I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. Will be busy with this for years.  ;)

RGC

What's the difference between Arrange and Arrange Score Attack, other than one being offline and the other online?

Anyway, this was done online (Arrange Score Attack):

Edit: Arrange:

RGC - 137,183,640 - 1-6 - Meidi & Midi

Plasmo

VER 1.01:

B,455,760 - Plasmo - ALL - Lace

Slightly improved my score. Still I did many, many horrible mistakes like completely fucking up the first boss and not trggering a medal boat in stage 4.
Anyway, the replay is up at the leaderboards under my second account. I don't know the gamertag, but it's the first place atm, not difficult to find. ;)

Score Attack here is the actual Pink Sweets mode, where you only play stage 6 with a time limit, and not the "get on the leaderboards" thing you find in all 360 ports (look in the Game Options under Course to set the game to Score Attack).

And congrats to you Plasmo :)

RGC

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll edit my score submission now. :)

EOJ

Great replay, Plasmo. I can see a lot of spots where you can really extend your score, so I'll look forward to more scores from you! I love how the max medals lower the rank when they drop off the screen - it was exactly what the game needed. It will take some planning to find the spots where you should collect all the medals, and the ones where you should let a bunch drop, in order to manage rank while still scoring well.
