This thread is an effort to list arcades in the US or elsewhere who are operating Cave PCBs.

So far I only know of two:

Arcade Infinity in Rowland Heights, CA (http://www.yelp.com/biz/arcade-infinity-rowland-heights)

which has Mushimesama Futari,

and the soon-to-be-opened Denjin arcade in Simi Valley.  I don't have their address or games lineup yet, but you can see that they have Ibara at least from here.

Anywhere else that people know of?

Of course there's the Casino arcade in London, which, over the years, has had DoDonpachi, Mushihimesama, EspGaluda 2 (and 1?), Pink Sweets, Ketsui, Progear (US ver) and Ibara, as well as brief appearences from Mushi 2. And perhaps more. DEL is obviously the expert here  :)

Just a bump to say that www.arcadeufo.com has gotten in Deathsmiles mega black label - great game.

GaijinPunch

Where the fuck was this place when I was in school?  Well, we had Einstein's...

Damn, not just Deathsmiles, but Mega Black Label.  Fubarduck doing well!

I'm currently in Tainan, Taiwan and I've been hunting for arcades here. They do exist! In fact, they even have some Cave games. I will update this thread with any info I find.

So far, I have come across an arcade called Dino World in Tainan that has Dodonpachi Daioujou. It's in a Sega Blast City cab, and the stick and buttons appear to be Sanwa (and in decent shape). The monitor is sharp and bright. 1 player only, and for some dumb reason they didn't set up the C button as full auto so you have to tap out the shot on the A button.

They also have a Raiden Fighters Jet cab right next to it. The rest of the arcade is mainly vs fighting games, but they also have the newest PGM2 beat'em up games (not surprising, since those are made in Taiwan).

The best part? One credit is just 5 NT (about 15 yen/15 cents).

I know there are some decent arcades in Taipei, I'll be there later in the week and will try and find them (maybe take some pics too).
One of them must have that Dodonpachi Daioujou Tamashii version.

Cool, I was in Tainan for about 18 hours back in March.
Anyway in Taipei I saw an arcade with lots of candies running shmups, they had DDPDFK, and some other shooters. I didn't look too much because I was with my girlfriend
I'm pretty sure the arcade was in Ximen.

Many great cheap things like that in Taiwan (food, hostels, transport) but you will find many parts of Taipei are more expensive than other places.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try and check out Ximen.  :righton:

Depending how much time you have, Ximen is really worth checking out. Have fun in Taiwan, it's pretty great!

StarCreator

I'll definitely need to keep all this in mind if I ever end up in Taiwan.

Some other locations that haven't been mentioned here yet:
Pink Gorilla, Seattle, WA, USA
Game Plaza, Shanghai, China
(name unknown), Nanjing, China
Lie Huo Arcade, Shanghai, China

GaijinPunch

I assume 2GB memory grows on trees in Taiwan.

Tesuman

Would there happen to be something in say...PI?

The thread would be more active if we plotted private collector's locations.  I know drboom did a classic gaming tour and hit up a bunch of oldschool world record holder's homes for a little vacation.  He detailed it on his blog.

So someone could do a Cave vacation and hit up private "arcades" dotting the USA.   :righton:

Beijing (北京), China:

There is an arcade near the Xidan metro station (西单站, metro line 1 and 4), if you enter the mall by the entry on the square, the arcade is just on the other side of the building.

Games available: Daifukkatsu, Mushi Futari, Muchi Muchi Pork, Deathsmiles (and I must forget some, i'll go check again). Also some other shooters like Ikaruga (on a big HD screen!!), Shikigami no Shiro, etc... A lot of fighting games on versus cabs with some skilled players too.

On a side note, the controllers there are far from perfect but completely working, which is far from being the case in most chinese arcade!

Dave_K's house is better than most arcades.  He and his wife are gracious hosts.  No smoke.  He swaps games out, and it's free.

I'm back home in Hawaii, but while in Taipei I did manage to visit the Ximen district, and there was an arcade there (can't remember the name, will have to ask my wife, probably the one inp mentioned) on the 5th floor of a tall building that had Futari 1.5 and Daifukkatsu BLACK LABEL. I was really surprised to see the latter. I played about 4 credits, and it being my first time with the game, I was pretty excited. I also played a credit of Futari, but the stick felt mushy (pun intended) and the buttons weren't 100% accurate. High score was 760+mil, though, which is pretty damn good. All the Daifukkatsu BL scores were horrible, I beat one in the second stage and I was playing like crap. Maybe they just got it in. Also, on the 2P side the C button didn't work. Anyway, this arcade was also non-smoking, which is a HUGE plus in my book. They had some other STGs, such as Raiden II, and PGM2 beat'em ups, and 1000 fighting games, as expected.

Couldn't find DDPDOJ Tamashii anywhere. Oh well.

Maybe our Taiwanese friends know it's a gigantic turd, too!

That's not the arcade I saw because it was at street level and they didn't have DFKBL, but that's great you found another, I will have to keep that in mind when I inevitably go back to Taipei. Was that arcade off of Zhonghua rd. by chance, near the Ximen MRT station? If it was I think it know the building, it's a family activity center / party store kind of thing.

Granted you didn't get many credits, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on DFK BL.

EOJ

I liked it a lot, but I spent less than an hour with it, so I can't really say much beyond that.

for the frenchies, the shop Gamespirit located in Lyon has 8 cabinets : 3 versus city with fighting games, a madonna with a 3000 in1 card and and Egret II with DFK BL. The Egret II was running futari 1.5 before they received DFK

Any arcades with Cave games or other shooters of note in Berlin or Moscow?  I plan on visiting both this summer and I'd love to hit up an arcade or two.

moozooh

No shooters in Moscow. I've seen a Densha de Go cab in one of the arcades, though, which I assume is infinitely more fun and easy to get into compared to DDP.

Realistically speaking there are no arcades in Moscow. They're just general entertainment halls located in movie theaters to pass time, with other kind of pay per session attractions thrown in. Places like that have up to a dozen of cabs, about 1/3 of which are rail shooters, another 1/3 racing games, another 1/3 Tekken 3, 4, 5, or 6 (which nobody here really plays competitively). There is also a kind of an old game museum, which I've never been to (I've only heard about it this summer), but if what I've seen of it is true it's focused on old Russian arcade games and stuff, so don't count on anything more modern or more popular than Xevious.
<dan76> As it is I'll have to endure high res - life's hard.

Medal

As of 2009 there was an arcade running Ibara up in Racine, Wisconsin somewhere. I've never been there, and I didn't have to go there to play Ibara, so I've never bothered.

NR777

Thanks for the info, moozooh...I suppose I'll just have to spend more time drunk.  One can't have it all.

caincan

The french shop was running  DDP DFK  at 0,20?  :o :)

I don't know if this arcade in Chicago has Cave games, but it's pretty cool in any case:

Dude

no they dont have any and not to be rude they shouldn't. they would not fit in here. This is located 10 miles from wms arcade/slot machine distro and 20 miles from the old wms pinball house.  If ever in the area its a blast to come down and play some of the best american games thate where developed in the worlds largest coinop city outside of japan.

I got carlos pesina's autograph here.

SHOUT TO GAMEWORKS AND THE PINBALL MAFIA!

looks pretty awesome! I actually wasn't even aware of this place and I was within walking distance last week. I live 30 min south of Chicago (just about the same distance away from brookfield) so I'll definitely check it out.

would be cool if they eventually got some Cave games but I agree that they really wouldn't fit in much there.
