Newbie question - checking in
« on: December 07, 2010, 12:05:14 PM »
Started to get hooked on shooters when Raiden fighters aces came out a while back.  Now i am playing Deathsmiles and having alot of fun with that.  I want to dig into the region free titles that are coming out but here is my question.  Are the saturn ports of Donpachi and DoDonpachi worth playing?  Are they faithful and playable and are they worth playing now if i am used to Futari and espGaluda and stuff like that??

Dodonpachi is always worth playing, but the Saturn port is junk compared to the PSX port. Try MAME?

I may have to then.  Here's hoping for a xbla release or a compilation disc or something....

Outside of the pixelated explosions, I didn't notice anything wrong with the Saturn port of Dodonpachi.  Donpachi on the other hand...

What exactly is wrong with the Saturn version of DDP compared to the PSX version?

Thanks for the info.  There is enough new stuff coming out right now that I don't need to bother with it for the time being I guess.
