So it seems it is a large arcade stick with roms, rather than a console port.   :displeased:

It's the ROM running on Final Burn Alpha in a massive Sanwa stick:

I actually like the look of this, and the selection of games is great. Is final burn alpha any good?

According to the official site, this only has the USA version of Progear, which is a bummer. But I suspect it will be hacked soon after release, so it shouldn't be an issue to put the JPN ROM on there.

I don't know much about emulation but I think it's "OK" and was chosen because of it's not very demanding of hardware.

Definitely wait for it to be hacked. There are no doubt cheaper, more accurate and more ergonomic ways to get Progear emulated on your rig.

It wouldn't surprise me if Cave knew nothing about this.

If you have a dedicated pc w/ AMD gpu and a CRT yes (can be cheaper), or a FreeSync/G-Sync setup (well, depends)

Anyway neither FBA nor MAME emulate CPS hardwares perfectly, even running on the ideal emu config it's roughly like 90% accurate (bc of the eternal lack of proper wait states simulation)

Not bad at all though, good enough for me tbh.

So this is out on Steam, Xbox and PS4 now. I've read impressions from people who have played the Steam version, and they say it looks and plays better than the Switch version. The Switch version has more input lag and some weird stuttering.

Got this yesterday for the ps4 . Arcade stadium is free , and you pay for a choice of 3 different packs of games . I obviously chose the one that included progear .. £11.99 here in the UK

First off , the game looks gorgeous . Beautiful colours and animation . Some nice options too , with different screens including scan lines and a curved screen which mimics a crt .

No jerkiness that I can see , though I'm struggling to play it with a standard pad . Got a arcade stick on order so hopefully things will improve .

All in all , first impressions , I love this . Great to see Cave games getting released on modern hardware

One thing I forgot , you can easily swap between the Japanese and English Rom .  Nice touch .

I played some progear on PS4 last night. I only played to Stage 4 on the first loop then went to bed. I still noticed a little input lag, but I doubt it would bother anyone who doesn't also have the pcb. I wasn't too put off by it. Outside of the menus that annoy me, I think this is a good package. Wish it had Eco Fighters and Dimahoo, and a few more licensed beat em ups, but overall not bad.

Edit- Seeing a lot more negative feedback regarding lag over on Shmups. It's definitely there, but I don't think it's game breaking, and Ive played the CPS2 board a LOT over the years. On the other hand, I am not good enough to play for a competitive score so better players may be noticing something I'm not.
