Looks like people saw Suruga-ya's prices and are trying to cash-in at YAJ.  Case in point:

-NOS DFK BL kit starting at 600,000 yen. Includes poster and a promo flyer I've never seen before. Again, everything is brand new.

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e303741886

-Ibara Kuro BL boxed kit, with original POP, A4 Marquee and movestrip. Box is in pretty bad shape and no sign of a sticker still being there, but starting at 280,000 yen it's a great price for a kit:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o264895206

I'm tempted to bid on that just to get the art. Hmmm....

Ibara Kuro BL boxed kit in awful state sold (to me!! ) for 335,000 yens!

That's a great price for a Kuro kit these days! The bad: The box is a normal Cave/AMI box that is thrashed and doesn't have the inserts (so it is worth very little), the movestrip has a chunk ripped off, and the instructions are a copy. The good: the POP and A4 Marquee look to be in good condition, and those are worth at least a few hundred dollars on their own.

The really good: the PCB itself looks to be in great condition, and the serial has an IB- prefix so it is among the first 100 produced (not a later "converted" board sold by Cave. I have seen several Futari,  Pink Sweets and Mushi Tama PCBs converted into Ibara Kuros, for example).

The really REALLY good (and the most important): the game itself is fantastic. I appreciate and enjoy it even more now than I did when I played it 10 years ago. It is right up there with MMP among my favorite STGs.  :)

Do you have that little piggy mascot / keychain? That's the last piece missing from my MMP kit.

A few Cave PCBs that did NOT sell recently:

Mushi + copied art for 90,000 yen:
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o264852212

Ibara + art/inst (in bad shape), for 88,000 yen:
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u225212652

Ibara is a funny case. Mint kits can go up over 180,000 yen on YAJ, as we have seen recently, but PCBs seem locked below 80k (and they sell quickly at 70-79k). Even this one with all the art couldn't get a bid at 88k.

Good info, I didnt know that, mine is IB-21. :)

Agree, Kuro is a great game and I think its interesting that it doesnt fetch a higher price compared to the Meh-soup of SDOJ and DFKBL that people pay tons of money for.

Regarding Ibara, I think its collectors influence on the price. A kit = a complete Cave kit for the collection that collect dust on the shelf.
PCB only = not so interesting as it has the biggest stepping stone of all Cave games to get over before you actually see the game.

Kuro is also the only CAVE SH3 STG without a home port (well, excluding AK LE, which is a special case). I think Kuro is a much better game than both SDOJ and DFK BL. And while they surely made a similar number of DFK BL, they made far more SDOJs than Kuros. However, Dodonpachi is CAVE's most popular brand, and that has an effect on prices and collectability.

Good points on the Ibara situation (though I think Pink Sweets is the worst when it comes to accessibility to newcomers).

Yeah, it seems like the owner thought the movestrip was a sticker and tried to peel it off for a while before realizing its error... I thought the instructions were original and the marquee was the copy. I'm VERY happy if I'm wrong as I don't care much about the instructions but I like to install the original marquee in my cab when I switch games.

No, I prefer to consider that it was an optional item not part of all kits...  :-[

Mushi PCB sold for 84,500 yen, to a proxy bidder:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c680981896

Of note, this had the sound capacitor replaced. The box was included, in poor shape, as well as the A4 marquee (also in poor shape). Some other copied art too.

MAK removed their DDP SaiDaiOuJou from their price list, so it probably sold for the 498,000 yens they were asking (PCB only)...

Yep, partly because several Japanese arcades have closed down recently (I know at least two of the above PCBs on YAJ recently were from Japanese arcades that shut down this year), and partly because private owners see what they sell for now and want to cash in.

The two rarest SH3 PCBs (outside of Mushi Matsuri and AK LE) on YAJ this year have been Akai Katana and Pink Sweets. I've only seen one PS, and it was broken. I haven't seen a single AK.

A large collection of Toresetsu sold yesterday, highlights included Ibara at 29,500 yen and DSMBL at 19,500 yen (of course, both bidders were proxies). Many others went for over 4000 yen as well. Pretty crazy. Deathsmiles went for a paltry 1800 yen, though, as did Deathsmiles 2 at 2000 yen.

A couple rare posters sold yesterday.

Mushihimesama Matsuri Ver 1.5 sold for 25,500 yen to a proxy bidder:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x569334765

SDOJ sold for 46,000 yen to a proxy bidder:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b338196420

The Mushi 1.5 poster sold for pretty cheap. I think they only included this with the kit, and I don't think they made more than 100 of those.

Well, if more people didn't upgrade, it would be more common, and thus not worth as much now. If you care about scoring, DFK 1.5 is a vastly superior game (same story with Mushi Futari 1.0 > 1.5). DFK 1.0 also has some balancing issues, safe spots on bosses, and bugs, etc (all fixed in 1.5). If you are a collector, it's a great game to have. A really cool piece of Cave arcade history. But as a player, I'd rather play 1.5.
