Minty old style Cave/AMI box (appropriate for Espgaluda, Ketsui, Ibara, and Mushihimesama):

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x592518248

Currently at 25,500 yen, current top bidder is a proxy bidder, of course.

EDIT: It ended at this price.

Deathsmiles II ver. 4.0:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b364040768

Looks like it works (miraculously). The PCB case is quite beat-up though. Anyway, starts at 70,000 yen. I love this game, but dealing with this clunky, glitchy hardware does not interest me.

A nice set of four arcade flyers (MMP, DSMBL, DFK (two types)) sold for 5,505 yen. Doesn't look like a proxy bidder.

Yeah, it's been interesting going back over the old price lists from 2009-2012. Tops used to email them and I have all those saved. Some time in 2012 they stopped emailing a list, and rather just emailed a link to their weblist.

Something happened in 2012 that caused all video game prices to start going up. One of my favorite video game data sites, www.pricecharting.com, keeps logs of prices going back pretty far, and all graphs are similar.

I still can't figure out why 2012 was the low point, but it is a curiosity of mine because I'm a data person (as a math teacher). I can only think of some contributing factors:
-In the US, 2008 was a great recession, which led into 2009. Once people had become comfortable again, they bought more leisure stuff. But then why starting in 2012 and not 2010-11?
-People who grew up with these systems now have expendable income. But then why is it the same for platforms from multiple time periods, and why does it all start in 2012?
-YouTube gaming channels made collecting games more popular. Pewdiepie became YouTube's most subscribed user in February of 2013. But he was much more about modern gaming than previous generations, right?
And why do we see a significant decrease for Playstation until 2012 when it starts rising again?

Best theory: 2012 was when the world was supposed to end or something, and maybe it really did and now we're just in an alternate dimension.

Interestingly, those follow the increase in bitcoin prices from late 2012-2018:

https://99bitcoins.com/price-chart-history/

Before 2012 bitcoin was worthless.

For CAVE yen prices, keep in mind that in 2012 the yen was much stronger than it is now. It was something like $1 USD = 77 yen (a great time to be paid in yen, as I can personally attest). That's the strongest the yen had been in a LONG time. Recently it has been around $1 USD = 110-115 yen. So a price of 33,000 yen in 2012 would be about 50,000 yen today, if one converts them to USD.

The yen went over 100 in late 2013, since then it has never dipped below 100. It peaked at over 120 in 2015, with some brief spikes up around 125.

If the yen gets below 100 against the dollar again (let's say between 80-90), all the prices in Japanese shops will collapse, as they have been partially inflated by a weak yen, and from what I have seen over the past year most of the people buying the expensive CAVE PCBs do not live in Japan.

Mak JP has a DFK 1.5 PCB in stock for 158,000 yen:

http://www.mak-jp.com/documents/2019_01_08.pdf

Meanwhile, Suruga-ya has a full boxed kit for 178,000 yen (it's been up there for awhile):

https://www.suruga-ya.jp/product/detail/180901784001

It's easy to see why no one is paying Tops' 230,000+ yen asking price for a bare PCB.

Pink Sweets PCB:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l500251500

Seller says you can insert a credit, press start, and select a character. But after this, the inputs on the 1P side do not work at all (no response in-game from the buttons or joystick). In the test menu the cursor moves fast and erratically on its own making it impossible to select any items on the menu screen. But the 2P side works fine in-game. So he lists it as a "junk" PCB.

Akai Katana sold for 20,500 yen (probably to a proxy bidder). Quite nice condition all around on this one:

Tops updated their list today. They added a bare SDOJ PCB (with copied art) for 583,200 yen.

https://www.tops-game.jp/products/detail.php?product_id=5351

They also lowered the price on most of their CAVE games by 3000-5000 yen:

There's a Pink Sweets kit for sale on shmups forum for 3000 Euros (~$3400 USD). I'm not aware of any PS kit that has sold for anywhere near that price. I think you could probably get 2000 Euros for a kit but 3000 is dreaming.

Espgaluda 2 PCB for 65,000 yen (70,000 yen buy-now).

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b371116592

This seller prohibits proxy services, so unless you live in Japan, you can't bid on it. Haven't seen an auction like that in awhile, at least for Cave PCBs. Most sellers know proxies pay a lot more than Japanese do.

Tops added another Ibara PCB today, this time at 168k yen.

https://www.tops-game.jp/products/detail.php?product_id=5580

So they have this one (marked as in "mint condition") and another for 165k yen which has been up for a few months. Obviously, both are very overpriced.

They also reduced the price on a few PCBs including Ibara Kuro which dropped from 456k yen to 448k yen.

MFBL Another Ver ebay auction starting at $1000 USD:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/273690505075?ul_noapp=true

PCB only. Seller says it is an "original Japanese Jamma PCB". Which is technically true, but also sort of misleading when it comes to this game. Nowhere does he mention it is the "Another Ver" International version, though the serial number MFBA-80008 reveals the truth.
