Seller arcade_parts on YAJ has several CAVE PCBs and partial kits up for auction (Deathsmiles, Esp2, Mushi, Ibara, etc). Prices are close to Tops', though, so I will be surprised if any sell.

Here's a link to the Deathsmiles:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k378660432

BTW this is a good seller. I bought my SDOJ kit from him and it was just as advertised.

Tops updated their list today. Nothing new, but they lowered the prices on some games that have been sitting there for awhile (some for over a year). For example, DSMBL reduced from 508k yen to 506k. What a deal!

Pink Sweets PCB:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l500251500

Seller says you can insert a credit, press start, and select a character. But after this, the inputs on the 1P side do not work at all (no response in-game from the buttons or joystick). In the test menu the cursor moves fast and erratically on its own making it impossible to select any items on the menu screen. But the 2P side works fine in-game. So he lists it as a "junk" PCB.

That's quite a repair. Glad it was salvageable -- it's always sad to see an SH3 die. Sounds like the PCB underwent some sort of serious damage (electrical?).

(I still don't know why someone paid 166,000 yen for that.)  :oogle:

Thats some awesome repair-work.
...I wonder if the Jamma connector was reverse attached to the pcb?

Tops added another DFK BL PCB (in "mint condition") to their list today, at 432,000 yen. They reduced the price on their other one (in "regular used condition") to 424,400 yen.

When it rains, it pours. Here's another SDOJ on YAJ, starting at 500,000 yen. Kit without a box:

Serial number SDO-00002.

Very interesting and rare Donpachi boxed kit:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n339602349

The PCB has a sticker on one of the chips that says "Development PCB no. 9". It includes 3 ROM sets, including a "photography" Japan ROM in which you can pause the game by pressing one of the start buttons. The second ROM is a Hong Kong version, and the third one is Japan/Hong Kong/Korea.

What does the writing on the "bonus" box say?

It says “shinseisha”, which was a Japanese publisher that went out of business in 1999. Notably, they published Gamest magazine. So it is likely this dev PCB was used by Gamest to take pictures of the game for their articles.

Well deduced! Nice bit of history then. Tempting but I can't afford the inevitably mad price right now.

SDOJ instruction set:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g345484281

Interestingly, this is not from a kit but was sold at one of Cave's online festivals in 2012 in a lottery. It includes the POP, movestrip and instructions, but no A4 Marquee. It also includes the very rare promo flyer. The instruction sheet has a "awarded by lottery at the Cave Online Shop" card taped onto the back.

Ahh, now were getting somewhere. I've been after the flyer to complete my collection. I remember seeing one sold on YJ with the artset very soon after the games release and had been wondering if I'd imagined it until zak found one recently.

If anyone needs the art, maybe we can figure something out.

Deathsmiles 2 art/inst set + toresetsu + three CDs + superplay DVD + coffee mug + artbook + X360 stickers (ALL BRAND NEW) sold for a paltry 15,000 yen (one bid, at auction) to a proxy bidder:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m331358311

This stuff has taken a big dive in price. A year ago the art/inst alone sold for 26,000 yen on YAJ, and now you have to pretty much give it away. And people in Japan aren't even willing to pay the opening bid.

SDOJ Matsuri art/inst set (no A4 Marquee) + promo flyer and some other CAVE swag sold for 72,700 yen at auction, to a proxy bidder:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m330956545

Unlike most art/inst set auctions, there appear to be a few Japanese (=non-proxy) bidders who went quite high in their bids.

***

DFK BL art/inst set with superplay DVD and DFK 1.5 X360 toresetsu sold for 27,000 yen at auction, to a proxy bidder:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u275143083

Looks like one of the bidders was not a proxy. The last set like this (w/ superplay DVD) sold for 15,500 yen five days ago and also included the DFK BL toresetsu and some other goodies.

CAVE/AMI ver 1 box  (with original antistatic bag and bubblewrap) sold for 22,249 yen, at auction, to a proxy bidder:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/q287646284

A few things of note. First, this is not a mint box, it has tape on the sides and a noticeable gash on the bottom. Second, there were two proxy bidders on this battling it out. Third, as usual, Japanese won't even bid the opening price of 1,000 yen because they don't give a crap about beat-up old run-of-the-mill CAVE boxes.
