Boxed SDOJ kit sold for 526,000 yen - this kit keeps dropping in price (640k (mint with poster) > 550k > 526k in the span of two months on YAJ). Doesn't look like a proxy bidder for this one.

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r262569596

-----

Here's an interesting one. A quite beat-up Cave/Annex box, with tape marks all over it, sold for a whopping 28,400 yen:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d301099941

Why so much? Well, it is not an ordinary Cave/Annex box. If you look at the inserts you'll see one of them has a slanted/curved edge to hold the PCB feet. Only the SDOJ box has this. Bidders must have known what this was (because the seller didn't say). Surprisingly, it doesn't look like a proxy bidder went for this one.

------

Cave kit art that finished in the past few days:

DSMBL POP (quite worn condition) sold for 12,000 yen (looks like a proxy bidder):
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b327973472

DFK POP (quite worn condition) sold for 2,430 yen (doesn't look like a proxy bidder):
https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u214867831

MMP POP (quite worn condition) sold for 6,500 yen (looks like a proxy bidder):

The seller says that's from a DDP DOJ BL kit he bought brand new. It includes the suction cup and flyers, which I think are rare. Is the suction cup the same as in the Ketsui kit?
It's not, but I've never seen those Ge-sen Yokocho flyers before. Has anyone else?

I have seen them before. In fact, I am pretty sure I had a stack of them 10+ years ago which I probably gave away for free to someone.

Looks like the buyer did not pay for Top's MMP at 226k yen, as they've relisted it for sale at that price.

Also that Ketsui wall scroll has been slashed in price from 300,000 > 150,000 yen:

That box is far from mint, especially the large tear on the bottom. :displeased:

I owned a few truly mint Kuro kits about 10 years ago. The cheap sticker on the box is less exciting in person.

Thats for sure. For that price I would expect a kit like in new condition.  :)

Yep, I have the Futari BL box with sticker, the sticker is like one you print from your small home printer.
Though the sticker on the box actually shows what game it is...the normal cardboard boxes are super boring, thats why I sold all and went with shockboxes instead.
(Well, my newly bought Ibara boxed kit doesnt count, the best game should have a kit.)  ^-^

I went with corstat boxes over shockboxes, and they are great. Much more practical than the Cave boxes.

Some recent arcade artsets:

Muchi Muchi Pork art with folded poster (art is in poor condition with pin holes, tape marks, etc), sold for 32,400 yen:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m271913321

Mushihimesama Futari art with folded poster (some of this is in poor condition with stains, etc, but the POP looks pretty nice) sold for 14,500 yen:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m272220311

Akai Katana art (poor condition, with stains, marks, etc. Movestrip looks nice and clean, though) sold for 37,400 yen:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n283817258

None of the winning bidders for the above look like proxies, which surprised me.

Also, it looks like Tops have finally sold that Espgaluda 2 for 105,840 yen they've had listed for many months. That's a really high price for a bare PCB.

I can't speak for the other auctions but the winning bidder of the Muchi Muchi Pork artset was me using a proxy bidder. I don't care much about boxes but I really like having the artset for my PCBs as I put them on my cab whenever I switch game... Sadly, the poster must have boosted the final price significantly and I had put my max bid as "anything goes". It's a bit upsetting that when I bought my MMP PCB from Tops last month I asked if they had the original artset stashed somewhere and they replied they didn't know as they started slowly opening boxes of their inventory and selling what they find as they go. Now a few weeks later they list it on YAJ... oh well, TOPS still is a seller with best-in-class customer service with the downside of (very) high prices sometimes.

Thanks for the info! Generally if the bidder has under 1000 feedbacks there is a good chance it is not a proxy. Anyway, complete MMP art/instructions are not easy to find, and it's not a bad deal considering the poster is included (albeit folded).

Tops almost never sell the art with the PCBs anymore (they prefer to auction them off to maximise profits), so I don't bother asking if it's not on their site.

Pink Sweets with art at 298 000 yens:

The art looks mint in the Deathsmiles kit. Still way too much though.

Pink Sweets at nearly 300,000 yen is crazy.

Would you guys think it would make sense to start a separate thread that keeps a log of prices and uses links/screenshots (because inevitably the links will die) of the results of such auctions? Just to keep a running tab with dates and data for these games. Typing it out I sound like an obsessed madman, but I think it might be nice to curate a list so that we have concrete data to look at if things get sold.

Well, that's sort of what I'm trying to do here, which is why I list the sold-for prices in addition to the links. It is also important to list if it is a proxy bidder or not, to see how much those outside of Japan are paying for items vs those within Japan (I have not seen anyone else doing this besides me). But if you want to make something more elaborate/comprehensive/searchable, you're more than welcome.  ;) Maybe a google docs page would be appropriate?

It is important to keep track of the actual sold-for prices, otherwise certain people will pop in with their "opinions" on how much a certain game is worth and try and manipulate the market (raising prices for things they own, and lowering them for things they want to buy). :displeased: I've seen that happen rather transparently on Shmups forum and Arcadeotaku.

In other news, here is a Guwange with Blue Label rom for $1000 or best offer:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Guwange-PCB-Cave-Arcade-Board-W-Bonus-Blue-ROMs/142894251532?hash=item2145293e0c%3Ag%3Aq5AAAOSw0URbZhzY&_sacat=0&_nkw=Guwange&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313

Not a bad deal, these days.

This sold recently for a "best offer". Not sure what it was, but it was less than $1000.

A working Deathsmiles II for the low, low price of 1,200,000 yen:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m275376778

 :displeased:

I bought something from this seller and it was not at all as advertised, so I would not buy anything from them again. Of course, I don't think there's anyone out there crazy enough to spend this much on DSII.

Thats a lot for DS2, maybe cos its -working- (On that fragile hardware.).  :)

...I still have to try the 360 port out...some day when I feel open towards the 90s polygon graphics.

Take off the first digit and it might be an OK price. I think Superpang said it was over 25kg, though? Super heavy (= ridiculous shipping costs), in any case.

If you care about scoring the X360 port is about as good as any other port as long as you aren't playing as Lei.

It's heavy, but I'm not sure it's that heavy.

There's a common crash bug before the Field D boss so there's no guarantee that board hasn't developed it, nor is there any guarantee it'll survive shipping without something going wrong. The hardware suffers from overheating, motherboard failure due to flexing, cheap compact flash and generally buggy code. No matter how rare it gets or how great the game is (and it is), it's not worth the risk or upkeep IMHO. Better to settle for the less than perfect port or bootleg versions unfortunately.

9 grand for the worst arcade game experience of your life.

I guess the seller saw Vertexer sell a few days ago for $22,000 and proceeded to lose his mind.

Tops got an Akai Katana PCB in stock today for 228k yen. I placed an order right away (like a minute after it went up for sale) because it said it was available. I got the usual order confirmation email from them. But then an hour later I get an email from them saying "Sorry, this was a duplicate order due to a server error, someone bought it right before you, we will try and investigate this server error".  :displeased: Something about that seems fishy to me, but whatever. Pretty frustrating because I've been looking for this PCB for a long time. I hope no one bought it thinking it is a LE PCB (they show the LE title screen in the listing); the serial number shows that's not the case, and Tops are not so dumb to sell a LE PCB for 228k yen.

In other news, their prices on MMP and ESP2 have gone up. And they have a DOJ for 128k yen.

Very fishy as you got the order confirmation as well.
Fun though that they posted the Limited ver screenshot.  :)

Lets hope it doesnt show up again with a new screenshot and higher price.

I ordered it at 12:56pm (Japan time), and they didn't "officially" update their pricelist until after 1pm. The order confirmation email arrived right away. I got the order cancellation email at 1:59pm.

Anyway, I've asked if they get another in stock to let me know, but they probably won't. I'm sure I'll have to pay quite a bit more for it if they do.  :-[
