DS      Rosa, Normal     501,165,159    Kaibito(海人?)

I've got a student named Kaito who uses those kanji, so it could be that reading, but it's probably 'kaijin' as in the mermen in the game. I always thought it was pretty wicked that someone named their kid Merman.

It could also be 海人 ama 'male diver; fisherman'. That's how I usually see that compound read.

ABI broke 550mil in Futari 1.5 Original w/ Reco today. PCB version. He says he's satisfied with this score, and will stop playing Normal Reco Original now.

DSII 4.0     Casper     1,296,383,619     WSM-MKZ
                 Lei          1,963,013,075  Yodosan

DS      Windia, Normal     461,405,903    Horie Masafumi

DSMBL   Windia          12,126,361,365    Pikkoro

DDPDFK     Ura A Power           992,387,718,489  Dame K.K
                Tsuujou A Bomb       430,218,706,450  Suimasen
                Tsuujou C Strong      681,571,622,328  Kamken @ KAM
                Ura C Strong            750,182,524,453    Kameken @ KAM
                Tsujou C Bomb       544,098,316,345  AoBomb no t

MFBL       God Palm     6,184,676,770   ZAP  (ALL 5 remains, 3 bombs, Spiritual Larsa)

There's a feature on ZAP's score and it talks about how he did it.  This run was actually lower than his 6 bil run, but he managed to get through the last boss with 3 bombs intact and kill Spiritual Larsa with no bombs.  Adding the gem bonuses for stage 5 with the remaining 3 lives gave him an extra 400 million points.  What a champ!

DS II    Casper    1,302,477,023   WSM-MKZ
           Windia    914,103,305      Mark

DS       Windia/Normal   463,190,988  Horie Masafumi
           Windia/Canyon  615,628,831  WSM-Tetsu

DSMBL  Windia   12,583,934,943    Clover-TAC

Ibara     1P Side   36,010,010   ACR

DFKBL   A Bomb   415,300,811,094  KOT
           B Bomb   809,381,889,444  Chrono x
           C Bomb   528,588,116,344   Kagamin
B Strong  549,997,013,618  Yusemi (ALL, Hibachi defeated)
           A Power  341,305,424,126  S.S.KSMN
           B Power  1,382,883,035,242  SSST.N
C Power  347,513,213,509  I only got to Hibachi

DFKBL proceeding as expected.  I know this high school kid who absolutely shreds at Daifukkatsu and he tells me people are topping 2 trillion already, so expect these scores to be much higher next month.

Strong is in a sort of unfortunate situation, wherein it's the most interesting mode, but it absolutely kills the board when scoring at maximum effect.  That being, jacking the chain up, canceling bullets (suicide bullets->big stars), and milking the Danger! lasers that come out the higher your hyper meter goes up.  The slowdown gets so bad that not only does the HUD disappear, often your ship does as well, leading to impossible situations.

DS II     Windia    914,103,305      Mark

 I saw 1+bil scores with Windia every time I went to A-Cho 6 months ago. I guess no one bothered to send in their scores before this Mark fellow.

DSMBL  Windia   12,583,934,943    Clover-TAC

That is impressive.

Yes, that DSMBL score is awesome.

Missed a couple scores.

EspGaluda II    Tateha   980,216,521
Battle Galega   Gain       20,536,400

There's also some notes on ACR's Ibara score which says that he's reached his goal and is going to take a break from the game.  He says that if could connect everything, he could reach 40,000,000.  Score breakdown is 11.45 million after Stage 3 boss, and 19.85 before the last boss.

Is the hitbox still intact when your ship disappears? This is the final shmup concept: raise rank so hard the tech goes down and become invincible.

They mention a B-Power score that reached 1.5 trillion but didn't defeat Hibachi (and so they didn't run it?).

Two trillion is definitely only going to be possible in Power afaik.

As far as I can see, the Japanese have some kind of stigma for incomplete scoreruns; i. e., if a run beats the current record but doesn't complete the game in at least some way, it is not submitted to public scoreboards at all (with the possible exception of counterstops). It is the same with doujins so the pattern is consistent.

Right, "trillion", not "billion". Got my 'illions mixed up. Hate when that happens.

And yeah, Arcadia doesn't run higher scores that aren't 1CCs if they already have a lower score submitted that is a 1CC. Dumb rule, but that's how they roll.

That should explain the lack of Strong scores ? they crash on the TLB. :D

Really? They did have Strong scores before (SWY cleared Hibachi with B-Strong), but maybe players are avoiding it now that they know it can crash. Wonder if there's a bug-fixed PCB out yet?

Eh, sorry, I didn't mean crash as in software crash. I mean them going aggressively for score and ending their runs on the TLB is the likely reason for the scoreboard silence.

New WR for the C-ship.  If only someone could convince the guy to release a video.  The guy got the capacity bonus at 2-5. INSANE.

You'll never see that video. From reading that blog and others, it seems clear that there is an underground "elite" video swap thing going on there, where a group of 5-10 (maybe a bit more) people, all top players (including ABI), share vids with each other but not anyone else. On the blog he says "I got this vid from BGR-44, but I cannot lend it out to anyone. If you want to watch it you'll have to come to my house."

Become fluent in Japanese, get a WR score in a shooting game (and tape the run), and move to Japan, and you might be able to join their club. Otherwise, forget about it.

PS- One guy has a vid there that is "over 7bil w/ Follett in DSMBL, without the EX stages or suicide bullets." For reference, the highest score done that way that I had heard of before was just over 6bil with Windia.

Perhaps the blog's intended audience is people in their group and the fact that we can read it is a side effect of the internet being so open

Do you think they would want to see me play gyruss for 60 hours straight? I wonder if a counterstop of DFK 1.0 would get me into their group.  That would tie the WR.  I could probably get the WR in cloak and dagger or heavy barrel, but I don't think that would make me cool enough. Oh well.

Nah, they could very easily set those blog entries to private and only viewable to people on their friend lists. So either they don't care at all (odd, people would be pestering them for the videos), or maybe they do look for a bit of an ego boost (a bit more likely).

I noticed something interesting about the Muchi Muchi Pork Ikuo 2-Loop WR by WSM-Chiimaru. It's recorded as 247mil in Arcadia, but if you look at his hi score picture you'll see he actually got as high as 264mil, but without the clear (up to stage 2-5). As we know, Arcadia doesn't accept higher scores that aren't clears.

http://kre10482.hp.infoseek.co.jp/wsm/wsm_score.htm

Anyway, this info is mainly for Plasmo.

DMTetsu got a 617mil score in Deathsmiles w/ Windia (EX) on the xbox 360 port a few days ago, which is higher than his PCB record. The replay is up on xbox live (it's obviously worth watching).
