I'd like a signed photo of the back of your head too, Jesus.

My hair was a bit shorter then. ;)
I actually am on the website somewhere (along w/ icycalm).  We were queuing to play (I think) ESPGaluda II at the event where Pink Sweets was unveiled.  Small photo... you'd have to know me to recognize it.  There's another photo in the book I'm definitely in, but it's taken far back (of a Matsuri queue) so of course, I just blend in.  I remember exactly where I was for that one... a man usually doesn't forget the spots he sleeps outside when it happens once a year.

Just out of interest, is sleeping outside prompted by the merchandise at a Cave matsuri or because there's a limit on how many can attend?

Or is it just the done thing with any Japanese gaming event, however small?

It's not limited to Japan though is it. I have no idea why anyone would queue overnight in November to get a copy of COD when they could probably have got it a day earlier online.

My guess is some masochistic delaying of pleasure, providing pleasure in itself.

Or just sad, you choose.

Mind you, they gave away a very good Sony 40? 1080p lcd to the nutters that queued for the PS3 launch at London Piccadilly,.

If you want to get gear, the Cave Matsuri is going to take about 8 hours of your life.  If you show up at first train (5AM) and queue until 7AM to get your ticket, you're probably going to be in the middle of the pack and get out by 2PM at best.   I just shift the whole process back several hours.  For the summer one, I hung out in my office in Roppongi until about 2AM, then walked to Akihabara which took an hour.  Got there, planted it crashed out. Woke up at 6:30 or so, got my ticket by 7:30 I believe.  Fucked around for a few hours (mainly just had some coffee and talked to NTSC-J).  Got my gear in the 10:00 - 11:00 crowd and was home by 11:30.

I think 4:30 would be the sweet spot.  I could sleep until 4, cab it and get there by 4:30, beat the entire first train crew, and maybe even get in the first hour group... definitely the second.

Not much stuff actually sells out these days.  Maybe the leftovers from the last one.
