Welcome to the Akai Katana high score thread. Covered modes are Arcade, Shin, and Zetsu.

Rules: no continues, and default live stock, difficulty, and extends.

Please submit your scores in the following format:

SCORE - NAME - STAGE [LxX, BxX for ALL scores] - PCB/X360 (for Arcade only)

LxX for ALL scores indicates how many spare lives you finished the game with - please also indicate if your rightmost lifebar has damage in it. BxX indicates how many bombs you have left when you clear the game.

Managed a 1cc after a few days - way harder than I expected, although maybe that was because I went for score straight off the bat. 4th boss was quite the wall for a while.

Holy goddamn, this mode is cool. Arcade seems really constricted and limiting after giving this a few serious credits. Getting an instant 1000 hits or so from the stage 6 midboss was a lot of fun. Definitely working on this.

@HVL: X360 port, not the arcade version.

@TimingTripod: I don't really play competitively for high scores anymore (not enough time, not enough drive/interest), but I do still enjoy getting the 1CCs.

I'm playing with the stock X360 controller on a 19" LCD, which is what I used to get the above two scores.

But that's about it. There's an excellent 504mil replay on youtube, and the official DVD (by the same guy) is 525mil. Both are helpful to watch.

I don't think about "western" records anymore. There's a world record, and that's what I measure my scores by. That's what we should all do.

Right now my score is above average. I'm enjoying improving it.

One note about my 369m score. I finished with 4 health bars, but my active one had taken [a lot of] damage from lasers. I believe adverse mentioned that a damaged life bar doesn't receive any bonus at the end of the game, so Lx3 would be the correct way to record it, right?
