I discovered one of the chips is different on the CV1000-D PCB board (the one without the lithium battery) used for Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu and Death Smiles Mega Black Label. Here is a pic of my DSMBL PCB:

Unlike the previous SH3 board (CV1000-B), there is a different ISSI SDRAM chip at the location U1.

Here are the product specs:

http://www.issi.com/pdf/42S32400D.pdf

It's a 128Mbit SDRAM chip running at 166mhz. The old chip, used on all SH3 PCBs prior to DDPDFK, is the MT48LC2M32, which is a 64Mbit SDRAM chip. So the CV1000-D PCB board has double the RAM in this area, and can be considered an upgraded version of the hardware,
perhaps to be labelled SH3-b.

Update: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label, Akai Katana, and Dododnpachi Saidaioujou also use this hardware.

I found another part of the CV1000-D that is upgraded - the chip at U4 is now 32Mbit, whereas the CV1000-B has a 16Mbit chip here.
More specifically, the CV1000-B has the Spansion S29JL032H at U23 & U24 (this is a 32Mbit chip), whereas it has the Spansion S29AL016D (16Mbit) at U4. On the CV1000-D, the Spansion S29JL032H is found at all three locations.

Always cool with new hardware :D

Slight correction it's a 128 Mbit (Or 16 Mbyte) chip.
