I know nothing about such things but was wondering the differences between a PGM mobo and the Cave PGM boards. The sound chip must be different for starters, the Cave games sound so much better.

Just about everything is different between them, they're pretty much apples and oranges. All you really need to know is the SH3 hardware is much better in every respect. :righton:

Actually the IGS PGM motherboard and the CAVE PGM hardware is very similar :D

They have the same sound chip, same CPU, same protection device,
same battery to name a few.

Demon Front was released on a single PCB, I believe this was the template
for the single board CAVE games.

I was just curious as I find the sound effects and music on most PGM games to be..well..shit whereas Ketsui etc sound lovely.

It is on a cart but was also released on a single PCB, much the same
as the one we see on the CAVE PGM PCB's.

Are you sure you're not thinking of The Gladiator or were they both also released on PCB?
