This is the Mushihimesama Futari Version 1.5 high score thread. Version 1.5 is an update to the original version.

Rules: no continues, and default live stock, difficulty, and extends. Submit in the order shown in the table. The PCB has separate rankings for each character in Original, Maniac, and Ultra modes, so I've set up similar rankings here except with Ultra mode, where there is one ranking for default extend scores and one with the extends set at every 80mil.

Key for all tables:

LxX for ALL scores indicates how many spare lives you finished the game with (for example, if you finish the game with 2 spare lives, list it as Lx2, if you finish the game with no spare lives, list it as Lx0)

I don't really understand the scoring system yet (will have to give your strategy guide a view I guess EOJ) but I am loving this game.

while original is easier, i think maybe maniac is more rewarding/less penalising.  stage 4 seems to be a bitch in either mode   :x

Well, you're using Abnormal Palm, who is harder to score with in Original and Maniac compared to Normal Reco. I'd switch to Normal Reco for awhile, she's a more well-rounded character with tighter controls, and her wide shot comes in handy in Stages 4 and 5.

For Original mode, make sure you aren't bombing at all until the last boss, except once on the ST3 and ST 4 bosses, if you must. Also, try not to die more than twice before stage 5. Finally, you just have to make sure you are switching from A>C and vice versa at the right times - it really makes a huge difference in an overall run. Your original score is 100 some mil with Palm - you really should be getting this score by the end of Stage 3 after some practice. 150+mil at the end of Stage 4 should be your next goal.

For Maniac scoring, you should try to learn to milk the Stage 2 boss, get the big scoring spots in Stage 3 down, and milk the stage 4 boss. That will push you over 400mil with a clear. Other than that you just have to keep practicing and try to find good scoring spots in the stages.

For more advanced Maniac scoring, you also have to learn how to chain the gold gem production from the destruction of one enemy into the fire of incoming enemies, a very sneaky trick TAC shows on the DVD, where you exploit the slowdown in the game. But it allows him to fill up from 0->9000+ gems in a matter of seconds, so it's worth trying to figure out. See the first half of Stage 2 and the first half of Stage 3 on the DVD for examples of this technique.

yeah, i used abnormal palm just for the strong A button, but his C shot is weak and not very wide...  i'm not bombing at all in either mode, just to get me used to the levels and bosses etc.  i am switching between A and C at the right times, but just dying too much.  i'm probably just giving myself a hard time, and have accumulated only 7 days worth of play   :oops:   i will have to watch the dvd in more detail

Gave Reco a try and I must say that I really like her normal shot version. The abnormal form, however, will take some getting used to. :oops:

I made a very minor improvement with Palm but now that I read your guide EOJ and somewhat understand Maniac's scoring it's definately the mode I'm having the most fun with. It's just so satisfying seeing all that gold on screen.

i'm having more fun.  i think it's that i've realised that stage 3 is shit (design, music, bullet patterns).  i hardly ever die on stage 4 now, but stage 3 (particularly the second half) is very frustrating...  stage 5 is almost orgasmic

Nice to see you enjoying the game. Stage 3 is one of the hardest in Original mode, but I think the design, music, and bullet patterns there are great. Lots of opportunities to milk points there, particularly on those big mounds of dirt.

Okay, hopefully I have these scores sorted now. BTW I am not going to update any of the scoring threads on shmups.com (I see some of you keep posting scores there), so you can take over whatever thread there if you like. I don't see much point in maintaining two (nearly) identical scoreboards on two different sites. I like having all the cave games in one neat forum here.
