There's a nice interview up here: http://moon.ap.teacup.com/qwertyuiop/990.html with Cinderella Anba and SANWA, two Korean players who recently attended the Wasshoi 2 event in Tokyo, and who are exchange students living in Japan.

I won't translate all of it, but two things were pretty interesting:

<Q3.How's the STG scene in Korea?>

   Awful.
The numbers of boards in rotation are extremely low and the places you can play them are limited.
At the moment, this is what the board situation looks like in Korea:

   White Daioujou: 10 boards
   Black Daioujou: 0
   Ketsui: 1
   Mushihimesama: 2-3
   Futari: 3
   Deathsmiles: 2
   Daifukkatsu: 0

People who have cleared white daioujou: 3
People who have cleared Ketsui's Ura loop: 4
People who have cleared Mushi Ultra: 2
   Futari Ultra: 0
   1999: over 100

Apparently 1945 and those games are pretty popular. Probably only because they're prevalent though.

That's surprising, I guess Korean people are a LOT more into PC gaming. Zounds of them play Starcraft.

Looks like someone put together a little video on the Korean scene:

:righton:

moozooh

I guess that explains why many Korean Touhou players don't seem to play arcade shmups. However, the page linked in the previous post mentions Fore, who is a minor WR holder in one of the Touhou games. Useless trivia ftw.
<dan76> As it is I'll have to endure high res - life's hard.
