Is it possible to "Phoenix" an already dead CPS2 board?

Lets say I had a Progear board that was dead; would I still be able to phoenix it or would it be too late?

That was the whole point of Phoenixing, to bring them back from the dead. Converting live to zombie does nothing but hurt the value to collectors unless you convert a game to a different game much more in demand. But in the case of Progear, it's the most in demand CPS2 game. Maybe Hyper Street Fighter 2 is about even.

The answer is yes if it's the battery that suicided being the reason it died and not something else on the boards going bad.
