Title: Downloading NicoVideo stuff?
Post by: ave on December 19, 2008, 02:42:17 PM
I am looking for a way to download videos from nicovideo.jp. I've already been using the "DownloadLittleHelper" addon for Firefox for ages now and it works perfectly with every page except for nicovideo. But I'd really like to have some superplays on my HDD as it sometimes loads just too slowly and I want those great Famicom commentrys on my PSP! So, is there any handy Firefox addon or if not, a small program that allows me to rip them off the page?

BTW
What about all those comments floating the screen all the time? They are funny or at least amusing to watch at times, but they can also get on my nerves quite a LOT (esp. in danmaku superplays. The last form of mushis TLB is indeed amazing, but do we need hundreds of "おおおおおおおお~~"s, "wwwwwwwwww"s and " ああああああああ~~~"s to underline that?). I can't turn them off, right? It's not that I did not already look for a switch-off button everywhere, just want to be sure.

You can turn off the comments (just click on the "comment" box). I can't help you with downloading the vids though - that's something I'd also like to be able to do.

Ah, great! Always overlooked that small icon.

Just did a one hour research including a lot of trial&error, but I finally found what I've been looking for:
http://aerith.mydns.jp/bin/nicodav/

You only have to enter the URL of the video and it downloads a "smile.flv"-file, but this time it's the right one with actual content! I am soo happy, finally listening to Thexder 2 PC-88 in my car  =D

BTW
give it a try, I consider it simply AWESOME

Wow, that works great. I can play the .flv files in VLC player. Thanks a lot, ave.

There's a ruby script floating around that I use.  Much easier on the eyes than that ugly ass page.  It's in Englihsh too.

Nicodav has been taken down on the 2nd of June  :-\
http://aerith.mydns.jp/bin/nicodav/

It offers two links to "similar services", however, I can't get them to work. Nicovideofire provides some DL links, but I always get a "403 forbidden" if I hit it and nicomimi will only let me download the mp3s of a videofile.

Is there any other service that actually works? I want that 35m Ikaruga Hard Mode run!  =D

Get Mitter. It plugs into your browser and you can download any nico or youtube vid with the click of a button. Best thing out there for this.

I use orbit downloader and since I don't have a nicovideo account, I use a nicovideo redirector: http://www.mmcafe.com/nico.html

Looks like a good tool, thanks! Also a lot less complicated than nicovideo. But I think I'll still have to use that VideoDownloader plugin from Firefox and Mitter next to each other as Mitter doesn't seem to recognize the different video formats on Youtube (flv + mp4). But it's lovely enough to finally have a plugin with nicovideo support =)
