My Japanese is terrible, but it sounded to me they're doing some sort of desktop accessory type thing (think something like Windows themes).  Someone with better comprehension can clarify please?

Yup, the Mushi pictures are referring to a desktop program, my guess is background image plus dancing mushi on your mouse pointer or something.  There will also be something packaged in with it, bet on a tit mousepad.  Holler!
