Other Games / Re: The "what NON-Cave game(s) are you playing right now?" thread

I've been playing several games over the past month:

-Knack 2 (PS4 on PS5). Finished this, it took about 12 hours. Really fun game with some amazing graphics, and even some STG stages (Star Fox/Goemon style)! Highly recommended.
-Bravely Default 2 (Switch). I've played about 29 hours and am up to the end of Chapter 4, but I don't have much motivation to continue on. The story and characters are boring and uninspired, the world feels bland and small, the side quests are a waste of time, and the battle system is not very fun or well-balanced. Either too hard, or too easy, depending on how you set up your jobs. I still love the first BD, but the second 3DS game was mediocre at best and BD2 is not much better.
-Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope HD (PS4 on PS5). Played for about an hour then dropped it. Annoying (and weird-looking) characters and gameplay seems bland. Also you can't pause during the long cutscences, which is bizarre. I gave this a try because I loved the recent Star Ocean Divine Force. Oh well.
-Breath of Fire (SNES, on Switch's NSO). I rented this back in the mid-90s but didn't finish it. I'm about 6 hours in and I'm really enjoying it. A real breath of fresh air after BD2 and Star Ocean 4. Definitely going to finish this one!

Keep in mind in the recent ports the slowdown accuracy is improved, and there are no significant differences in slowdown between Arcade and Normal mode anymore.
64
Normal Arcade and Normal MBL modes on the recent PS4/Switch ports are respectively Arcade 360 and MBL 360 modes that were on the 360 port.

I only found this bit of info on shmups.system11 forum. I don't know how accurate it is :

15.0 - Xbox 360 Arcade vs 360 Slowdown
In the Xbox360 there are two versions of MBL. Both versions are different from each other and below lists the biggest issues.

Arcade mode:
-The amount you can choose lvl1 and lvl2 are limited.
-Graphics are straight from the arcade PCB.
-There is plenty of slowdown during the first 6 stages, but the boss fights are lacking slowdown.
-When you get to the Canyon, Ice Palace, Castle, and Ballroom, it is the opposite. The stage is lacking slowdown, but the bosses have more slowdown.

360 mode:
-You can choose lvl1 and lvl2 as many times as you want.
-Graphics have been slightly altered and recolored for high definition purposes.
-The first 6 stages are lacking slowdown, but there is plenty of slowdown during the boss fights.
-When you get to the Canyon, Ice Palace, Castle, and Ballroom, it is the opposite. The stage has plenty of slowdown, but the bosses are lacking slowdown.

Thanks you very much for the detailed answer. Now I now which of the six versions I want to play :)

In the "Normal" Arcade mode (of the first Deathsmiles) you can't do the tutorial gem glitch.

Hello!

Does anyone know the differences of the "normal" version? I have found the differences of the arcade, 1.1 and MGL but that normal one.

Thanks!

I finished FFVII Remake, and then also went on and played through the Intergrade DLC. I really enjoyed both. Took me about 29 hours to do FFVII, then a bit over 4 hours for the DLC. Looking forward to FFVII Remake Part 2!

I was in the mood for some MMP this week so I gave 1.01 a whirl with Rafute. First 2-ALL in many years, and I beat my old 311mil score from 2011! Still don't know what I'm doing the the second loop.

VER 1.01
338,259,820 - Rafute - 2-ALL

CAVE Games / Hi Resolution Cave Artwork
« Last post by Codiene on March 01, 2023, 05:25:42 PM »
I am looking to print some of the arcade artwork (marquees, move strips and instruction card) for my Cab and maybe a custom CP overlay and backlit header panel. I have been wondering if there exists somewhere a repository of hi resolution cave artwork scans for all generations of cave releases? Ideally the arcade stufff but interested in anything that’s available really.

If anyone knows of place where this can be found that would be great if not I’m happy to try and collate any artwork into a single place for people to find easily.

Thanks  =D
