Since the danmakugata site died, I find it time consuming and difficult to find new videos. I am not sure where to put a video thread, or if it would be a good idea, but perhaps we can have a sticky thread where people post links to new videos. Perhaps the top post could be a master list of sites with videos, sorted by which game the site concentrates on.
So for example in the new videos thread:

Another nicovideo link. 1-5 run. The guy's chain is worth 7 million points before he dies during the laser doom section. Gets over 20 billion points from the stage regardless. You could probably get over 50 billion points from the first loop of this game. You can probably get 50 billion points from just stage 5.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm3639378
Full chain of 1-5. Finishes with a chain of 16,724, but it doesn't even matter because he counter stops the game before he even gets to the boss. Ooops.
Edit: The dialog choices at the end seem to be different. Someone who can read Japanese should figure out what it says. :I

There is a well known shmup player named LYH. There is also someone named LYH who, according to the cave scoreboard, has cleared both loops. I don't know if they are the same person.
There are no public (or private) videos of anyone clearing both loops that I know of.

Very interesting, thanks for the info zlk. I would love to see a 2-All video of Death Label sometime if for no other reason than to see the super pissed off dual Hibachi fight.
@EOJ: I think he's talking about the online leaderboards where you entered in the code that was generated after a run. I haven't checked them for a very long time but I think the highest anyone had been the last time I looked was like 2-4.

Hey, finally a video of someone clearing the final pattern of DOOM without dying or bombing. Nicovideo again.

I don?t understand the power style in Daifukkatsu.
I thought it has no bomb, and the shoot works on normal and boost with the B button, but in the video that zlk posted he is bombimg a couple of times and the boost don?t use.
Can any one explain how it works, and what buttons use for change between normal shoot and boost, and bombs?

So the answer is: No, stage 5 isn't toned down at all in v1.5. Guy drops just short of 20,000 hits but only has scored 70b or so during the stage (which makes sense, since a huge number of points comes in the last stretch of the level). I'm sure there will soon follow a video of a full chain of the stage in this version.
Edit: Okay maybe Nico is going crazy or something because now it's a commercial for Persona 4. :?

Top video on the page. Make sure to LEFT CLICK to download. This is SIN's WR run, which as far as I know still has not been beaten. It was recorded on May 31st, and is a truly exceptional performance, so I highly suggest you download the 456MB file. His only real screwup is the first phase of the ST2 boss, where he misses an easy 30mil. Thankfully, he includes an extra ST2 boss video showing him do it properly, ending the stage with 424mil. With a flawless scoring run, and no miss no bomb, 1.4+bil is possible.

A good video of Stage 3 of DFK 1.5... Green Ship on Power Type, just shy of a 10k chain, and some heavy boss milking as well. Guess there must be a cap on how long you can milk for though. Also despite what I believe GP mentioned, you don't instantly get your Hyper refilled in Power mode, although you practically do. Are they supposed to be upside down, or is there something wrong on my end?
Yeah, I was wondering how we're supposed to flip them.
I just rotated my desktop 180 degrees. Kind of awkward, but it worked. I'm sure there are video players with the option to rotate video as well.
I use the VLC player, but it only rotates 90 degrees. So it changes the upside vid to a horizontal one (equally troublesome).
I think I'll just skip these vids. Too much hassle.
You can rotate videos freely with Media player classic. Go to options, and under Playback/Output change "DirectShow Video" to VMR7 or VMR9, and then change to "Use texture surfaces and render video in 3D". Then use ALT + Numpad-1 & Numpad-3 to rotate video and Numpad-1 & Numpad-9 to scale it. Pretty nifty.
Nice vids guys, keep em coming :)

So I've been watching this and referring to the post you wrote on shmups about the hyper system to get a better grip on this game.
A couple things that stand out to me about these vids:
In Stage 2, your counter goes up by nearly 6000 as you laser the mid-boss after his last pattern. Do you know why this happens? Does boost hyper laser have some sort of chain acceleration property?
On Stage 1, when you back up to harvest bullet streams in the very beginning, this is just to raise your chain right? Does it help get your hyper meter up at all? Because at one point I believe when you take out the first water tank or whatever, your hyper meter jumps up by ~40%
You guys should probably continue the DDPDFK strategy discussions over in MMM's thread here (http://www.cave-stg.com/forum/index.php?topic=277.0).

Man, possibly the most annoying way to dl a file ever. Why do I have to install a program just to DL? These Japanese kids need to learn about rapidshare, sendspace etc.
If you check the options, you can set it to download normally.
Good DFK stage 1-5 video at nicovideo (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4337278) with the C-bomb type uploaded today. He gets a 19000+ chain and finishes with 167 billion.
why did the player bomb at the end actually? He dodged pretty much any attack of the last boss erotically.
Is the end-bonus in dfk worth mentioning at all

DDP:DFK 1.5 Ura loop midbosses and bosses vid:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4604524
Type C, power style. He does a no miss up to 2-5. Of note is he autobombs twice on the stage 2 boss,
and he no-misses to 2-3 and gets the 1up there, increasing his live stock to SIX. He gets torn apart in the second half of 2-5.
Can I ask what 'ura loop means, sorry to be a noob, second loop maybe? Also 'tlb' . . third level boss?
no , ok then :)
There are two loops in the game - Tsuujou and Ura. Just like Ketsui. The Ura loop is a bit harder, and has a stricter requirement to get there.
TLB=true last boss. A (normally very difficult) final boss only accessible by meeting some requirement (usually either no missing to the boss or getting to the boss on 1 credit). In CAVE games, bombing a TLB does not damage it.
excellent, thanks for that. I knew about the 2 loop thing on some games and certain requirements to get there (not that I ever will hehe) but didn't realise you couldn't harm a true last boss with bombs at all.

It seems you have really enjoyed the game at the Wovou's event :righton:
thanks
yeah I enjoyed the game a lot, it's so easy to pick up and enjoy even when you don't have time to memorize everything, and it's just a lot of fun. My 3 favorite caves are now Mushi Futari (1.5 if I had time to play seriously, but BL since I can only play at meets), Dodonpachi DFK and Ketsui. How do you know about the Wovou event though ? O_o

Here are a couple new Deathsmiles Mega Black Label vids. First, the Volcano stage from Tsumanne:

First link on the page. It's a filebank download, so you need to use IE. The password is "sakura".
Next is a vid of the castle at 999 rank w/ Sakura, including the final boss fight, from ABI (he continues at least once in the vid, so it's not a "superplay" per se):

I'm quite disappointed by 2nd loop gameplay in Power Style, way too much absorbing and stuff and not enough pattern dodging... I just don't like it. I guess Bomb style must be more interesting.
I'm with you Prometheus. I miss the good old days where you actually had to dodge the bullets....
You still have to dodge the bullets. Even in power style, they only do the bullet cancel/laser push back thing for the first half of the stage in the second loop. After that you have to remain out of hyper mode and just dodge shit to get any type of good score. It's pretty damn hard.

Not only that, but even when you have your shot blasting, some bullets can occasionally make it through, so you have to figure out whether you can dodge or not.
Yes. That is a pain. It creates a lot of tension and you definitely have to dodge a lot (as well as press A and C in a good rhythm).

Thanks for posting the vid though. I noticed something interesting - when you unlock it in 1.0, the girl says "power up". When you unlock it in 1.5, she says "Dodonpachi".
These guys release videos for sale. They also have some downloadable stuff as well:

I don't get it… Is it the strategies that made Shotia the highest-scoring character, or something innate to the scoring system? Piper is apparently the lowest-scoring. Is her "hyper hyper" stronger than that of other dolls, which makes her kill the enemies quicker?

SIN has posted an interesting blog entry regarding this matter. Looks like Shotia gets the same amount of points for an X chain as Piper gets with an X*2.5 chain, i.e. a 1000 chain with Shotia is worth the same as a 2500 chain with Piper.

No safe spots there, he just turned on some invincibilty cheat.
The descriptions mention PAR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro_Action_Replay#Sixth_generation), which I suppose it is. Bullets clearly overlap his hitbox on a number of occasions.
But I think the real purpose of these videos was to look at and admire Mushi's most ridiculous patterns without diverting the attention to shooting or dodging.

The game's starting to look somewhat acceptable but the castle is simply hideous with those chess pieces from hell and the crying babies.
The scoring system looks interesting.
(Wait, 3.0? What was changed between the versions and why?)
Scoring system overhaul, lots more stuff on the screen. Final stage is unlocked. Still missing EX stage and the last character though.
Those last two will be unlocked via codes in the next 1-2 months, guaranteed. This looks like the final version, other than fixing some freezing issues (which may just be hardware related, rather in the software).
Not sure if this is new or not but a really good run of stages 1-4 & 1-5 in DFK:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7908235 (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7908235)
Over 15k hits in stage 4, and over 35k hits in stage 5.
Whoa, he goes into stage 4 with 72 bil and ends stage 5 with 437. Doesn't this mean that a second loop with the same basic scoring route would yield at least as much, putting the final score at around 900 bil?
He also mentions something about DVD and a possibility of 500 billion for a first loop in video description, can anybody translate that part?
Thanks for the link, Gwyrgyn!

Sick finds, just watched the SIN video.
I didn't realize how easy it is to get the + value up to 10k at the start of each level. Will have to try that when I get some time.

YOS.K plays Futari 1.5's Ultra mode:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8673864
He does the loop milking on the stage 2 boss for about 6 minutes, and shows it is quite beneficial to your score. While he dies a couple times at the start, after that he does numerous loops and shows that after a certain number of loops the boss forces you into the final phase.
Is this applicable to BL or lower difficulty levels?
Not in BL (or ver 1.0), or 1.5 Original mode. You can do it in 1.5's Maniac mode too, of course (and this is pretty much necessary if you're shooting for a good score), but it's a bit different there.

Hey man, your videos look great compared to much of what I see online.
What hardware do you use to capture them?
MFBL Original (not sure if it is the port, I'll ask):
164k counter on stage 4 — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WVLNe1ACW4
263k counter on stage 5 — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMo53957z_Y
vs. Larsa — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXAVdpDYkTU
Final score: 3.00 billion, no-miss, 4 bombs left.
If I'm not mistaken, it's Dual, one of the former Touhou world record holders. If I interpreted his blog entry correct, he will try for a higher score.
And good God, the rank. :o
It has to be the PCB because it went up November 26th, 2 weeks before the MFBL port was available. It also says "INSERT COIN" in the upper left while he's playing.

Download is forever :D If you split it in 4 parts using rar it should be easy to upload.
Okay, I split it into 5 parts (four 153MB, one 60MB). You'll need the hjsplit program to join them again.
I'll upload them later tonight when I'm on my home computer.
I get to the point where I can select the file and then I can't figure out what to do.
Well that's good. Did it make you install the filebank software? Once you get to that point, you should be able to swing it.
It must be like trying to find your car keys in a dark room if you can't read Japanese, though. :-\
Yeah I did. The Mac version was out of date so I've got the windows version installed in a virtual machine..
But now I'm stuck.
Alright, try the following:
1)You have to be using IE.
2) see the blue downward-pointing arrow right above the boxes to select what you want to download? Put your mouse on it and select the second option.
That should start the download.
blah..
It starts prompting me to login.
The first option on the blue download arrow prompts me to login, the second opens the download box. Weird.
I don't get 2 options, I just have to click on the blue arrow.

Would love to, but I don't have the money. I'll have to wait for a port.
Looks like one of the best Cave games ever made, up there with Muchi Muchi Pork.
in this vid it becomes obvious what adverse meant by B-Power and "problematic": The hypers charge fast in Power mode and you can point your shot away from the crowd with the helicopter. The enemy shots give you points when cancelled with the hyper shot, under certain circumstances at least. So it's the most profitable to stick to either side of the screen and turn those bullets into gold. Seems to annihilate big chunks of the stage design.

Stage 5 looks pretty mental - thousands of bullets, screen-crawling slowdown, occasional glitching.
Would love a go at it someday.
Ouch, the slowdown is pretty awful there and those Hibachi glitches coming one after another (even producing safespots)? Cave really shouldn't have released DFK on the old hardware, it evidently can't carry out their ambitions. The game would have been perfect in every respect otherwise.
Great run, though. Interesting that score potential for Strong is so much lower compared to Power style (not dissimilar to Mushi Maniac and Ultra). It seems triggering the secret TLB requires some additional effort (no-missing until Hibachi, perhaps?). In which case it's pretty nuts. Yagawa, you damn sadist.

I don't understand this game at all. Everybody keeps saying it's incredibly hard, and I see how it could well be, but with virtually infinite supply of bombs, an ability to cancel most types of bullets, and an infinite lives trick, shouldn't it be much easier to clear it? What am I missing here?
Also, surprised at the amount of Garegga/Batrider references. I guess "make a game like you know what" kind of extended on this one as well. :) TLB = lol.

If you played it, you'd soon understand how harsh it is. One wrong death, especially during a boss fight, and your game is basically over (you get no powerups after you die).
Infinite bomb is pretty worthless when every time you bomb it jacks up the rank. Do it a bunch of times and by Stage 5 you're screwed, the game becomes impossible. Infinite lives trick is probably the easiest way to 1CC the game, but also the only way to score really high. Even so, doing that is harder than 1CCing most other Cave games.

Thanks lots for the video, it is quite revealing. I always thought Kakusei in omake was kinda pointless (aside from survival), if it weren't for that scoring gimmick. I have to wonder, though, if it really is that much beneficial in later stages. Playing without that kakusei gimmick, it is possible to get 1 billion points
just on the last stage, of which 600+ millions were on the Asagi clones with maxed out global and gold counters.
This tactic should be helpful to increase the score on certain other parts of the game, though.

So, the Omake! video is broken? Or just very boring to watch?
Well, he doesn't move, and instead just switches back and forth between normal and kakusei modes to cancel bullets aiming at him. Doesn't die once. Does that classify as boring or broken?
I'm patiently waiting for a high-scoring Omake run, that one is bound to look great judging from the first stage video from a couple weeks ago.
Oh boy. I played ESPII in early March when the first copies arrived in Germany and I was even a little proud to have beaten Omake Mode in my first few tries. I have to add that I didn't notice the ability to instantly cancel bullets by switching modes. It was a friend of mine who discovered this feature after I had beaten already the game playing it like ESP 1! >_<

ABI posted he's officially done with Omake mode. He's playing Futari God Mode now.
thats too bad :(
but thanks for the update EOJ
Yeah, he said after he realized you could 1CC the game without even moving, and he did it, he lost all desire to play it anymore. I don't blame him, really.
Surely he at least sanded down the edges on the inside of the dpad well of the controller? Without that simple mod, dpad presses often just do not even register on a stock 360 controller.
@dmauro: you're talking about the Futari Ultra guy? He says it's a completely stock controller, so I take that to mean he did no modifications. Keep in mind the newest controllers are actually usable. For example, the dpad on the controller that came with my 120GB Elite system I bought in Japan late last year works fine, with no unregistered movements (that I can feel).
I use the analog stick on my stock controller. I'm not Ultra level, but it seems to work fine for me.
Futari Black Label God mode w/ Reco - No Miss on Larsa and Spiritual Larsa. He uses just 3 bombs (none on Spiritual Larsa).
http://zoome.jp/imo_tikuwa/diary/15
He notes this pattern would be way harder on the PCB as the port has extra slowdown on Larsa's 3-1 bullet spread, as well as Spiritual Larsa's 2nd form's bullet spread.
Wow, very nice. Always fascinating to see a Cave TLB nm/nb'ed.
That last pattern strategy is badass.

That last pattern strategy is badass.
Seriously sick. Awesome to see people think outside the box like that.
I'm fairly certain that's the way Cave intended the last pattern to be, to be honest. The whole "use a bomb or two right before getting hit by a wall of bullets" always did seem a little weird. Also regarding the slowdown, I haven't played the PCB but having watched ZAP's 6b run at least a million times for strategies, it seems like the slowdown is different on most of the Larsa fight (which I love to dick around against in practice mode). The PCB appears to be pretty jerky throughout the fight, with slight slowdowns and speedups constantly. The 360 port is a lot smoother. Just watch the first pattern, on the 360 version, right when the bullets start to reach you the game goes BAM half-speed, and stays like that the rest of the pattern.
The rest of the game seems to be accurate, I wonder how they messed up this rather important section? The fast pattern after the swirls on the first form is still pretty much impossible though, do they really expect people to do that shit?

are there any good ibara black label runs floating around? all i can find is that one stage 1 replay....
Your best bet would be the superplay DVD, it has a world-class BL run by RAM.
I can prob post that Ibara BL vid. I might have it up already, will look.

someone was kind enough to send me a megaupload link. this replay is on the standard ibara superplay dvd? or was there a IBL specific release?
On the standard DVD. IIRC, it had four runs in total: Original-Bond, Original-Dyne, Harder, and BL.

Hello,
Fever S.O.S. is the international version of Dangun Feveron. http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/feversos

Holy shit, that's a sweet replay. I love how the guy utilizes the free hyper interval before the bosses. 1-up building was owned. :D
However, even with Hibachi that shouldn't be more than 850 or so billion. I wonder how badass the 1.7 trillion power style record must have looked like. More incessant milking of stage 4 and 5 bosses among other things, I bet. :D
I heard some guy(s) got 2+bil awhile back, but I haven't seen the scores in Arcadia yet.
But anyway, great vids.
moozooh: that's what I tought while watching the video: where is the place for such HUGE improvement :oogle: :oogle: :oogle: :oogle: I mean, the guy seems to be doing everything you need to do to score, taking all possible risks and only gets half the score the other guy gets (even though the 1,7 score is with B-type)
There's a huge difference in scoring with B-type.
Don't remember where I got it from (certainly not from this thread, though), but here (http://zoome.jp/gdgdmovie/diary/2)'s a Batrider Special course 1CC that makes it look easier than Normal course. Includes impressive stuff like no-missing Bashi-R, Envy, and Discharge. No milking.

Yeah, thanks. That's really a great replay. I'd never seen half of those bosses before.
I just started to play DDP DFK 1.5 and I have NO idea what the fuck is going on! I've already 1cc'ed Bomb as well as Strong mode and it wasn't much of a challenge. But I don't want to let the prejudices that I have now and want to get to know the system behind all the easyness. Can anyone link to a good 1.5 scoring video? I can only find certain parts (2nd loop, hibachi etc) or either 1.0 and Black Label videos... >_>
The thing is: Although I 1cc'ed said modes, I only got between 2.5 and 3.5 billion points. O
Think I had a very good superplay on my old computer, will check this week end and upload it on youtube if I find it.
Basically, what you need to do is use the hyper at the beginning of the stages to make your hit counter grow very fast and once you reached 10 000, keep the hyper meter full to get a very high score thanks to the multiplier.
Can't remember if you can reach 10 000 on the first two stages though.

Big thanks! These videos explain most of the "confused moments" I've had with the game so far. I'm really shocked that he pushes his combo-meter from 2000 to 9500 in about two seconds on the 2nd midboss - that's pure insanity. And I wouldn't call that great game design either :P But well, maybe I just have to try it out myself. 7000+ combo in 2 seconds must evoke a true feeling of manliness.

i haven't had any hands on time with the game yet, but watching the superplay dvds i noticed something interesting about the combo meter. the point bonus as it relates to the combo meter is fairly odd. you might add 7000 to the combo counter in a few seconds, but it will only add say +200,000 points to the point bonus. but then you could kill a large enemy turret, and that might add +300,000 to the point bonus but only add 20 to the combo counter. im sure there's a guide somewhere that explains how it works, but it doesn't seem as cemented as doj's combo systems point values.
man....i can't wait for november to play this beast =D

I'm patiently waiting for a high-scoring Omake run, that one is bound to look great judging from the first stage video from a couple weeks ago.
Has such a video for Galuda II Omake ever surfaced? I didn't even get to see that first stage video since it's long since been deleted. Thanks :)
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12850270
Can someone explain this video? I understand it's about hyper rank or something but I don't know what this video is trying to demonstrate.
I think the author tries to demonstrate the different levels of rank in the game and how the usage of hyper and bombs can increase or decrease it. +0 being the regular rank, it increases throughout the game as it can be seen in the fast-forward replays of stage 1 (+1, +2, +3). A hyper increases it (stage 2 boss: +3 -> +4) and a bomb will lower it (+4 -> +1). Interesting to watch!

Arrange A 2-5 and Hibachi no-miss/no-bomb. :o
That video just reaffirmed my hate toward bullet canceling. :whyioughtta: I was really hoping Arrange A would be more like DOJ than it is.
I hear you. This mode is very similar to DOJBL Arrange in filling the screen chockfull of bullets you don't have to dodge as long as you maintain a steady income of hypers. Fun to score in, though!

Agree whole heartedly.
When I heard it's going to be like DOJ I thought the Hypers would only make you invincible for a moment when they are activated and definitely NOT cancel any bullets!

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13053810
If you are looking for good routes and strategies for a "normal" player to clear DOJ, then these videos are for you. This player is very smart and his patterns are quite nice.
I'm following very similar paths with B-S in Black Label, and I must say, his way of doing 1-3 and 1-5 is very clever! The big cannon in 1-4 is also done excellently.
I can't watch the last two, though: they seem to load but appear blank.
I think Nico might have some sort of "you can only have so much bandwidth per day" policy now. If you go back to the site in a few hours you should be able to watch the other videos. I had the same problem.
Thanks for the links. I watched the first loop and it was pretty wacky, especially considering the player 2-ALLs the game. Is the player known? Some of the behavior seems like it's some super skilled player just being a jackass and pretending to suck to give crappy players a good model to follow to try learning the game.
Anyway, now I have something fun to look forward to for tomorrow. Thanks again, great find.

It's due to the cookie system on the site. You get a message that tells you to re-input the link in your browser WITHOUT the "www." at the start. I've done this, and sometimes it works, sometimes it still doesn't. I usually have to exit the brower, then start it up again and put in the link without the "www."

Stages 4 and 5 look amazing. And the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic. Stage 5 sounds very James Bond, like an homage to John Barry.

Kill each phase with the shot, not the laser. Just like in Ketsui.
Indeed, good call. It seems that, unlike Ketsui, it's beneficial to kill even final phase with the shot to get the chips before medals.
Frankly I have no idea why the 2ch guys don't like this game, to me it seems a lot more dynamic than DFK, and there's a high degree of skill and mobility involved in scoring (i.e. no boss milking, laser riding, laser bombing, spending most of the game canceling bullets, etc.). Maybe I'm missing something?
So, any hints on how to watch videos that give this error?
I tried taking www. out of the address like suggested a few pages back, but that does nothing, nicovideo.jp just adds it back in. Clearing my cookies does nothing and other browsers don't help. Even external video viewers won't play these videos.
It's kind of annoying since I get this on about half of all new videos, so any help would be appreciated. Even just a translation would be nice.
I get that error non-stop. I call it the "white screen of death" because once you get it, it is near impossible to see the video.
When i get that error over and over,i go to http://d.hatena.ne.jp/video/niconico/ (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/video/niconico/)
Mh I think Ketsuipachi looks a bit weird, chaotic even. The 10-chips that change in size do not particularly appeal to me, but I like the soundtrack quite a lot judging by what I've heard from it. My euphoria about the Ketsui arrange mode has declined a bit after I've seen the first full runs. Ketsui still rules, chips must not change in size and bullets must not be cancelled :P Still, a very nice idea and probably the most appealing arrange mode I've seen for quite a time.
Oh, and: "Justo a couple of more shots de" =D

Are you talking about Arrange B?
The leaderboards have a replay of 492 million* on stage 1, and it's completely insane. When the rank is driven really high (it's maxed out in that replay) you get all kinds of multiplications that raise your score through the roof.
* ? For the record, scoring even as much as 20 million is very tough. My best so far is a bit below 13.5 million, and I already have to restart like a madman because I tend to get killed in the first 10 seconds by not executing the hyper-bomb chain correctly. My strategy is as following: activate green mode as soon as possible by using a hyper on the first bee, use the free bomb to suck in expert items and ground stars, point-blank for hyper, use hyper again, repeat for as long as possible, enter blue or normal mode for the boss.

Even just a translation would be nice.
It says it failed in loading the video, and you should wait a bit and try refreshing the screen. If that doesn't work after a few tries there is a cookie limit (or restriction), so you should try deleting the www. at the start of the link and reload the page.
I get it on and off. Sometimes the refresh the screen thing works for me, sometimes the delete www. thing works, other times I try both like 10 times and give up.

I don't have BL yet, so I can't check. :(
It's by kuchiniko, and it's on the retail version's leaderboards (without a replay there).
Ah, isn't it the same replay then? The high score on the video reads 566,299,943,868 (which, I take it, is the same score as on the leaderboards); here in the video we see 564,299,943,868 before the screen fades into white, but IIRC BL adds 2 billion per remaining life, including the default one (so it's always no less than 2 billion at the endgame bonus tally). 564,299,943,868 + 2,000,000,000 = 566,299,943,868.
Thus this replay corresponds to the score at the leaderboards. Thanks. :)
kuchiniko also has 11 trillion in Arrange A (which is really, really insane), too bad there's no video available?
Thanks, I updated my previous posts to be more accurate.

Have you tried pointblanking the lasers on the three big tanks while hypering? I can get a few thousand hits there easily and a fairly decent score with poor playing and no risk taking, so it might be a worthwhile avenue to pursue.

As far as i know no hypers are used during stage 1 and 2 to have the next hyperslot as early as possible which allows for all hyperslots unlocked at the end of stage 4.
(Please correct me if im wrong)
P.S.: If this is going to turn into a discussion about planning a c-strong black label run maybe this should get its own topic ^^
You can use hypers in stages 1 and 2 (you use a hyper in your own video) and still max out the hyper/bomb slots just fine as long as you collect the bomb items when you are at maximum.

I meant during the stage portions. My bad >_>.
Anyways I appreciate the help and hope that some more people contribute to this.
I'll be working on Stage 2 tomorrow though since i only have a few days of free time left before I gotta start learning for the next exam (and because its 1:30 am over here) ^^

Stage or boss, doesn't matter. Feel free to use those hypers as long as you're at maximum when the bomb items pop up.
Might want to focus more on your exams for now. ;)
Scoring aside, it may make sense to avoid using multiple hypers on stages 1 and 2 to keep the hyper rank down, since Strong follows Tsuujou rules for hyper rank, and high rank seems nastier with C-S than the other types. There's always the strategy thread (http://www.cave-stg.com/forum/index.php?topic=1204.0) though for general discussion :)
And good luck with your exams!

So, any hints on how to watch videos that give this error?
Even just a translation would be nice.
It says it failed in loading the video, and you should wait a bit and try refreshing the screen. If that doesn't work after a few tries there is a cookie limit (or restriction), so you should try deleting the www. at the start of the link and reload the page.
I get it on and off. Sometimes the refresh the screen thing works for me, sometimes the delete www. thing works, other times I try both like 10 times and give up.
Something that works for me is opening up an incognito window in chrome and pasting the link there (or sometimes if that fails open it in firefox). Doing that seems to get around the cookie stuff more reliably...
There's a very very competent MMP! Arrange ALL with Rafute up on nico, with some good scoring going on.

I quite like the bullet and medal splitting thing going on, looks fun.
That bullet splitting reminds me of Arrange B. There, normal shot makes enemies fire faster but less dense barrages, while using laser makes them fire slower and much denser ones.

Top score on the leaderboards is 504mil (with replay available). It's pretty awesome.
I have a 208mil ALL with Lace, and I scored pretty poorly.
504mill sounds massive! I expect some heavy boss milking going on there!
Unfortunately lots of people (or maybe just a few? or maybe it's just me?) don't have access to live, so 195mill is all we get.

Yea I watched that replay earlier today. I was amazed at how many points you can get from milking destructible bullets. I haven't played PS Arrange since MMP 1.01 is taking up most of my time. A thing I didn't quite understand with that PS Arrange run was the player would throw out a Rose Cracker to accumulate medals and block a barrage of bullets, but then not collect the falling medals. I must be missing something.

Buy something like this :
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-VHS-TV-DVD-Capture-Card-S-Video-Grabber-xBox-360-/300531728543?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f916409f
They usually cost 10 to 20 bucks.
You plug it into your PC's usb-port and connect the composite out from your console to the usb device input.
After that all you need to do is use a capture tool on your pc to capture the vid and audio and you're done.
It's only expensive if you want to capture in hd which would involve buying a capture card at about ~130 $.
P.S.: Would be nice to see those replays on this site eventually ^^
Hmm... That route seems extremely inexpensive. I wonder how good the quality is.

Always been too lazy to get a caputure card, but my DVD player also allows me to record. Line in, record, then rip with handbrake has been my method and has given some pretty decent results.
Of course, that's really only a good alternative if already own or have interest in buying one for other reasons.
If you don't mind spending about $200 the BlackMagic Intensity really can't be beat in terms of feature set. It accepts Composite and Component inputs, as well as HDMI input to capture in full HD. The quality is great too for a relatively inexpensive capture solution. My friends use them for streaming Street Fighter and Marvel matches online.

That is the most amazing replay I've seen in a long while. Recharging tricks and purposeful flooding of the screen with bullets are astonishingly clever and well-done. I'm honestly surprised the whole game took him only one bomb to clear!
Nereid said there was some note in the description regarding the missed 30k cancel opportunity on Spiritual Larsa (the only significant improvement I could find). What did it say?

Daioujouh tool-assisted replay:

Genuinely amazing. I would never have guessed there was SO much scoring potential left untapped in this game. HFD isn't even close yet!
Wow. The current record is about 80% of that. :oogle:
I'm not familiar enough to know where the improvements are made - anyone know what innovations this run makes over the current record?
I need an expert to confirm this, but so far it seems it's a more aggressive hyper pattern combined with more aura milking and speedkilling midbosses for more filler popcorn. For instance, the player gets over 3600 hits in both 1-5 and 2-5, while the best publicly available replay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KqLbWYGgNc), albeit B-type, gets barely over 3000?that's a world of difference in WL. Then there's the endgame bonus for finishing Hibachi with full life stock, which is, I believe, at least 70 million higher than the current unassisted records. His way of bridging the stage 3 midboss is pretty cool, too; I don't remember if it's new, though.
I'm sure BL could be improved to 4 bil in TASing conditions as well.
About max hits I know that best Max hits in real play (no TAS) is FuFuFu with 3.450 hits.
Well, then he definitely can get many more points just as he said. I'd expect unassisted scores to cap at 2.35?2.4 billion if more players start using this pattern. The author of the TAS says 900 million is humanly possible in the first loop:

You guys are hardcore. :o
As far as I'm concerned, the difference between WR replays and this TAS video is.... totally broken suicidal unsafe ways of dodging the patterns
Sometimes, he just gets inside a huge bullet patterns instead of dodging it so he can take a bee as late as possible (later = more hits = more points). I'm wondering if it's actually possible, feels like toooooo risky strategies toooooo many times in the whole replay.
I think this was done mostly for two reasons: 1) creating a safer route is harder, while it doesn't help getting a higher score in a TAS; 2) making a TAS look closer to unassisted play may be detrimental to unassisted play(ers).
Couldn't remember the scoring in this game mode was so brutal:

I think it was supposed to be today, the 13th. Am I mistaken?
For the record, I went by this post (http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=766755#p766755), and assumed that if the loketest did happen the videos would have appeared by now.

Anyway, I'm trying to find a 2-all replay on Donpachi that is higher than 24 millions, does that exist ?

Here's an ESPGaluda Overheat 1cc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fAe9flGoHM) I got earlier today. ;) Took a small liberty with the challenge and nabbed the extend in stage 3, but that's an easy part anyway. Lots of fun to play, I recommend giving this way of playing a shot if you haven't already.

That TLB is scary.
Is that WC.? I remember him from Chinese scoreboards, he has a lot of world-class scores.
Very nice route for stages 1 (probably the best one I've seen yet) and 2; pity he lost that huge chain at the boss. Does he know what exactly prevented him from seeing the TLB on that run? Also, I wonder if getting 8 hypers from the first stage is possible; seems like it needs just a wee bit more point-blanking after the midboss.
Very nice replay. May have to steal some of his stage 1 and 2 strategies...

He died twice.
I should've worded that differently. Does he know the exact requirements for the TLB?

No, player in this vid is WS.. WC. merely plays Shot/Laser, he's trying to beat EX.

EDIT: Cave has offically revealed the condition to meet her, 3 of 5 stages bee item perfect and less than 2 deaths.
But in that video you posted he dies and bombs only 8 times and doesn't trigger it.
Of the dozen or so TLB fights I've seen online and in person, dying once or not at all seems to be a requirement. Bombing could still be a factor, though (like triggering the auto-bomb only a couple of times). Rank doesn't seem to matter since that one guy got the TLB with a rank of 7 or so.
You can die up to once and get the TLB. You can miss the Stage 4 1UP (and die once) and still get the TLB. Bombs don't matter.
I've seen one guy die only once and not trigger her, so there's got to be some other factor besides lives.
I watched Clover-TAC and ISO empty their bomb stock during the lull right before the fourth boss (presumably to lower rank), so they don't seem too concerned about bombs being it.
Right, you have to get perfect bees on at least 3 stages.

Bomb here refers to Bombs consumed. If you triggered auto-bomb when you're carrying 3, then this equals to manual bomb 3 times in that calculation.
In case you still think the "bombs consumed" mean something, this month's issue of Arcadia magazine confirms what I posted earlier: the requirement for Hibachi is 1 death or less, and perfect bees on at least 3 stages. You can use as many bombs as you like.
Yes, you're right, our guess missed. Cave also officially revealed that in their website. Sorry for misleading.
Does anyone have a link to a Pink Sweets video that shows the infinite lives triggered by the end of stage 3?
Edit... Is there a video of the trick being unlocked at all on any stage?

edit. im a dope. the youtube vid and the superplay vid are the same. swy has 87mil at the end of the final boss fight. the endgame bonus puts him at the counterstop. why is the scoreboard in that game not in standard numeric values? so annoying.

Didn't you get a WR score with one of the ships recently? What part is still a mystery?
It's still a mystery since hardly anything is publically available.
The best replay with type A isn't even 40mil, while the WR is over 90mil these days.
The Armchair General has posted a superb 60mil replay, which is by far the best publically available replay we have. Type B chaining is kinda similar to type A, so you can learn some type A strategies from this replay as well.
Type C chaining is radically different to A and B. Nothing is available.
Resources are very scarce for Donpachi. Six years were not enough.

My type C replay is not publically available though and I wasn't referring to myself. I am in close contact with all WR holders and share with them, so I know all the strategies with the other ships as well. Yet, that doesn't change the awful resource situation for the general public.

The video is worthless in terms of strategy for the vast majority of chains. It's a typical TAS that cannot be replicated. The actual WR replay looks very, very different.
There's a new replay on the DDPDFK Ver 1.51 leaderboards by SYU, uploaded March 20, 2018, that is a counterstop (9999999999 -- I forget how many 9s). He doesn't get the clear, but it is a very impressive run that made me have a little more respect for, and interest in, that mode. Getting a counterstop with a clear is no easy feat. I wonder if he'll keep playing for that or just be content with the counterstop.
I was wondering if someone archives those replays on the leaderboards. They surely won't be on there forever...
Yeah, I wish I had equipment to record them. Maybe someone else can help out there.
The guy plays it like a Yagawa game. Strategic deaths, bombs, etc. Really interesting to watch. I wonder if Yagawa programmed that one.

Of note, he gets over 70 million on stage 1 (I always thought this was possible, but this is the first time I've seen it), fights Shin Seseri (as expected, you must fight her to get the top scores in this game), and no misses the entire game. His recent WR is 39 million more than this, so I wonder where all those extra points come from. After watching this, it's hard to see where more points could be squeezed out.
Here is an interesting video of the Steam version of Deathsmiles MBL:
https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm28688522
It shows the Ice Palace stage completed in 3 minutes and 37 seconds faster than in the Xbox 360 version (which itself is a bit faster than the PCB). I did not know the Steam version was so bad, it looks like it is running with a fast-forward button on the whole time. Did they ever fix this with a patch or is it still like this?

I watched both videos. The 15.3 mil run is very interesting! He loses his medal chain once, at the snake lasers in St6. He gets three destructible-bullet extends (one in the beginning of st4, another in the beginning of st6, and the last in the beginning of st7), and three fixed extends (st3, st5, st7). He loses his first life on the St4 boss. Four more lives are lost in St6 (two on the snake lasers, one on the boss, and I forget the other one). He dies twice in St7 (once on the midboss) and ends the game with one spare life in stock.
