3)New Arcade game

awesome news!

I think those are three good guesses.  I'd be especially happy w/ an Ibara/Kuro port.  Maybe the arcade game is Deathsmiles 3 :)

Also, several months didn't they mention something about an exclusive Xbox Live game?  could that be a possible contender?

1)Akai Katana port

I think this is inevitable

2)Ibara & Ibara Kuro port

I REALLY hope this is gonna happen....    I need that black label.

Yeah, AK port is a no brainer. Ibara double pack has been hinted at a lot over the past few months, so I'd be surprised if we don't see it in 2011. Asada seems big on 'giving the fans what they want' as of late, but it must be profitable for Cave as well, or they wouldn't be doing it.

Hm, seems early to port Akai Katana, but then again...it doesnt do that well in the arcades it seems.

I go for:
1)DeathSmiles 3
2)Ibara & Ibara Kuro port
3)That new adventure game they have been talking about.

I didn't include this as Asada said "unannounced", and they've already talked about the adventure game. We'll see.

1)Akai Katana port
2)Ibara & Ibara Kuro port
3)That adventure game, or a new XBLA title (could be Mushi or ESPrade)

I would expect the AK port to be the nov/dec release of the year and Ibara and Ibara Kuro pack to come early summer may/june.

3 different guesses from me:

Dangun Feveron: The only thing we know about this is that M2 were working on it. They'll announce the platform now and other details (arrange modes)

New iPhone port

Original game for X360 other than the adventure game.

X360 Adventure Game
Akai Katana (Cave needs a big game port for the new year)
New Arcade Vert

One of these things HAS to be an iphone game, considering how Cave has been rolling recently.

But you guys are probably right, Akai Katana is going to get something.

C'mon Mushihime for XBLA.
Yeah, it's probably a port for Ibara.
Esp. Ra.De. and Espgaluda two pack!
What happened with that supposed catgirl teaser pic? Maybe a new vert for that in arcade?
And, there was some rumor of a multiplayer based hori cute'mup for XBLA earlier this year, irc. Maybe they will get around to talking about that.

Mushihimesama Blue could be one of those too, mirroring Guwange... I don't think we'll see it happen until Cave gets through more of their backlog, but I'm hoping it will come to light after Dangun Feveron/Ibara.

Given Akai Katana "Limited", I think it may take a bit longer for a port to appear, especially if "unannounced" games can include those that were just mentioned with little details (like the adventure game/new vertical). Especially if they are planning to port that version too, which seems a lot more exciting than the arcade release...

1. Official Dangun announcement.

2. Akai Katana port (I hope) or a new iOS port (I hope not, but whatever; probably DeathSmiles-related).

3. New original title (PCB or X360).

Other less likely (imo) versions:

4. An Ibara pack like EOJ said, as Ibara Kuro is the only non-recent mass-produced SH3 game not yet ported.

5. Mushihimesama XBLA, with Normal/Blue/Novice akin to Guwange.

6. ESP Ra.De. port. They can't port Progear since Capcom holds the rights, so this is the only shmup left to be ported anywhere.

Title: Re: Three new titles to be announced soon

I'd be interested in a Deathsmiles iOS port only to see what the iPhone Mode/Touch Mode would play like.
Although, the iPhone/iPod Touch screen doesn't seem big enough for all the action in Deathsmiles.

Either way, whatever the announcements are, I'm generally excited for whatever. I know that the Cave World blog hinted at revealing more announcements sometime in late December.

Thinking back, didn't Cave supposedly have quite a few problems with Microsoft concerning the Guwange xbla port?

If that was actually the case, is it really likely that we will ever see another xbla port...whether thats Dangun, Mushi etc etc?

But isn't Dangun an M2 port? They might have a better standing with Microsoft than CAVE.

I don't remember hearing anything about this. In fact, Asada-san (in the Siliconera interview) said, "Since you?re going to see more titles coming out on XBLA in the future..." in response to a question regarding appealing to a wider audience outside the hardcore shmup fans.

Also, "We are going to continue release package games, but you will see more XBLA games as well.".

I'll settle for Dangun on console with leaderboards and replays. Since it's M2 supposedly porting Dangun, I'm hoping it's for XBLA since that's the de facto shmup machine this gen. Although, Dangun's scoring system would work well on the iOS.

They'll probably make an Ibara/Ibara Kuro double pack region free like MMP/PS. No one is going to localize that thing, and Cave goes with region free when there are no localization hopes.

But let's not put the cart in front of the horse. We have yet to hear Ibara Kuro announced for the X360.

If I had to guess what the 3 announcements are going to be I would say:

1. iOS port on Mushihimesama Futari.

2. A completely new game. Cave has talked about adventure style games along with other ideas.

3. New arcade game.

Pretty excited to see what February brings.

Related, I heard that CAVE did not do Esprade up like Guwange because of Atlus... I have no idea how this would even work.

Cave has stated many times in past interviews that a Progear port from Cave is not going to happen due to Capcom licensing issues. Capcom porting the game (in a compilation or something) is something that actually could happen, but I wouldn't hold your breath for that one.

I really hope this isn't one of the three titles, but cave, gree, and ea are all working on a social game for gree's networked gaming platform.

I'll be somewhat disappointed if that's one of them.

Pretty much, yeah. From my understanding, GameCenter is Apple's version of XBLA. You set up a username etc and there are achievements and the usual things, comparing scores with friends and such.

So I guess that means 3 new titles PLUS a new iOS game  :righton:

Got an iPod Touch recently and man, I´m really enjoying DDPR and EspII a lot so far. It took me a while to get used to touch input in general (this is my first touchscreen device ever) but it works smooth as butter and even on such a small screen they look stunning. I was really surprised to see them running as smoothly as they did, but then again this is the same device that plays Epic Citadel and Infinity Blade.

Their survey resulted in this:
Quote
Japanese rankings:
1st   Dodonpachi Daioujou
2nd   Mushihimesama Futari
3rd   Ketsui

Overseas:
1st   Mushihimesama Futari
2nd   Deathsmiles
3rd   Ketsui

...I would be really surprised if Futari wasn´t the next iOS port. They already established the Mushihime-brand with Bug Panic (which, judging by the Lite version, controls pretty badly btw) and they already have the control input on their vertical shooters down, so Futari would be a no-brainer. And while Deathsmiles is an even more popular brand, I think finding a good control method there might be a bit trickier because of the two-directional shooting.

In any case, both games already have 360 ports, so they could be planning to upsell people on those ports if they enjoy the iOS version.

Oh, and I have to add that I enjoy the iPhone modes on both existing iOS ports a lot more than the arcade modes. DDPR dumps the chaining completely and instead goes for bullet scraping to increase a multiplier, while the bullet-tapping in Espgaluda II is a lot less cheesy than I originally thought it would be (the original scoring of EspII is a pain since the virtual buttons being a bigger problem than the ship control). Hopefully the iPhone mode on the next port is as sensible as these!

CAVE does a lot of other stuff besides shooters, take a look:
http://www.cave.co.jp/ (http://www.cave.co.jp/)

I have no idea what 90% of this stuff is, but I would assume their shooters are mostly a minor part of their income. As far as I know they also do RPGs, medal games, things like that.

XBLA game hopefully...

Dual-Language like Guwange too! Hopefully Cave has enough budget for that, even if it's a text-heavy adventure game.

The odds of their new adventure game (i.e. lots of text and anime stills) being on XBLA are pretty close to zero. Show me a Japanese-made X360 adventure game that came out on XBLA instead of on disc.

It seems like more and more of the game title (I'm guessing) is showing on the adventure game site as the countdown progresses.

Judging by the silhouettes on this site, it looks like only one character is male. If he doesn't have a face, this will probably sell like hot-cakes.

Odds of a dual language adventure game also pretty low down there.

No mention of XBLA title by the name of either "Bullet Ninja" or "NIN-JA"?

I REALLY hope Ibara BL gets a retail release.....   really want that game.

I wonder if they'd ever consider a new port to Mushi. I'd love a port with a HD overhaul and a Black label that makes the scoring actually fun. I love that game, except the scoring system. Give me an arranged mode with Futari's scoring system slapped in there while we're at it.

Well... as long as Cave has at least one shmup under development at all times, and makes that shmup really good, it's all good. Also, if Princess Debut is any indication, the adventure game will have a gameplay element besides pressing the "next picture" key with one hand while getting busy with the other, thus making it better than 90% of all other games in the genre.

No mention of it but not to say i wont be released. They may be holding onto the other titles for twofers like mmp/ps combo type deals.

Call me cynical but I'm more excited about the Cave International Store.

AK was a given, though maybe it's a bit early.  DS on iOS is meh..  And really that's pretty much all that English speaking folks can be excited about.

Nin nin jump sounds cool.  :)

AK in 16:9 should be glorious.

The cynical me would suggest that they'll fuck up arcade mode.  But I agree it should be.

Should be better than DSII's port at least. That was on goofy hardware and they slapped it together in like 3 days.

Is there commercial 360 hardware? would make more sense to ditch sh3 all together in just use that if there is any.

You mean X360 arcade hardware? Not that I'm aware of.

Yeah it would make more sense bust into the arcade hd scene. I guess they could use taito but that would be a security nightmare. Although they are listed under Taito Zero...... ut oh.  From what i understnad this system is downloadable software type setup.

that was a bummer ... :(

i expected no news about ibara/ibara kuro port, i guess they just wait to see the performance of muchimuchi pork+pink sweets to see if non-HDized shmups can sell enough.

I seem to recall Cave saying they would start work on their next arcade project in February, so there's probably not much to show. What concerns me more is their timing these days. They've rushed out almost their entire SH-3 back catalogue in a couple of years and were a no show at the last two or three AOUs.
Title: Re: Three new titles to be announced soon
Post by: Dude on February 19, 2011, 03:05:31 PM
The back catalog is being rushed due to emulation on the forefront i am sure.  I would almost bet there is no longer going to be sh3 based games. Due to the rapid porting it makes more sense to use the type zero as the sdk would be the same as 360.

Anything to be excited about CAVE's reply to my tweet?

They could have said Mushihimesama HD was their last 360 title...
