Awesome! Still hoping for a new "SH-4" board. A vert sounds to good to be true. I start believing it when I see it. Hopefully vert means tate too, not sure whether the Japanese have a distinction between tate vert and yoko vert?

Yes, it's definitely a tate STG (that's the kanji used in SIN's description).

Great, I was afraid Cave was reducing their arcade presence in favor of the x360. But it currently doesn't look like it...I guess with the easy ports, they will just run both parallel for more time.

It appears their console work has reduced their arcade output to 1 game per year (+ a BL, if we're lucky), rather than the 2 per year we had for a number of years. But this is only to be expected when the arcade staff also works on the home ports.

Hopefully if they've listened to consumer feedback, which they seem to be doing a lot more of lately, this should be a bit more of a challenge than DS/DFK/AK.

Mushi 3 would be nice, but honestly I'm hoping for a new game. Maybe one with a little more bite than AK had aesthetically.

I love the way AK looks, it's the whole bullet reflecting that I'm not a fan of - admittedly, just from watching youtube vids.

I'm hoping it's 2D and doesn't resemble one of their arrange modes. I  think Cave are losing their way a bit with this stuff. A game where you dodge bullets, not cancel them with your shot... and is balls difficult to 1CC.

I think that is where CAVE excels at. Many of CAVE's finest titles are produced by evolving previous games and concepts and bringing them to the next level.

If you take a fucked up starting point, such as Futari Arrange which AK seems to monkey, it's like polishing a turd though.

I understand your point of view, but somehow I think they have reached a kind of dead end with Akai. I mean, as you say, What is the reason for using such an uninspired system for a brand new arcade game?

Ok, I'm looking forward to play Akai Katana next month, so maybe I could change my opinion. But the vids. are not very encouragin.

I'm just waiting for something new and brilliant.
