Guwange on Xbox360 freezing.

Whenever I play in training mode, sometimes after continuing and launching my shikigami immediately as I respawn (pretty much holding 'A' straight away after pressing start) the game will lock-up the machine completely requiring a hard reset. Following a continue is the only circumstance this will occur in (ie: it won't lock up in normal gameplay ever).

If I play for ten minutes and just use continues as needed I can guarantee the game will lock up in that sort of time span. This makes the game pretty unplayable. It's the only game I have that does it, everything else will play fine for hours. I've redownloaded it multiple times and wiped all it's data from my machine but it still locks up.

Can someone else please test this for me on their machine? Given the circumstances I can't be the only person experiencing this, or is this a known problem?

I know I'm going to get loads of comments like "learn2play", "don't use continues" etc etc, but I've only just bought the game so it's a little hard to learn any other way.

Doesn't seem to crash in arcade mode regardless of how much I continue (meaning I haven't had it crash yet).

I have never bothered to play this enough (yet) due to the video issues (see link below). But just keep your fingers crossed that your bug get fixed in the upcoming patch: http://www.cave-stg.com/?p=848

Meanwhile you can just avoid triggering the bug by not using continues in practice mode. Practice makes perfect = no need for continues.

1. Yes they messed up practice mode royally and it will freeze 99% of the time when you continue there, it's a known problem
2. Use MAME (and savestates) for practice.

Of course if you were planning to practice Blue or whatever the other mode is called, tough luck - but the arcade original is harder than both anyway so arcade practice will still be worth something for these.

Can't you save your position in Arcade/Arrange/Blue modes and reload any time? I would suggest using that as a practice tool, rather than practice mode.

OK thanks for the replies.

The issues itself doesn't worry me too much (irritating as it is), I was more worried that I couldn't find anyone else having these problems and that made me think it might be my console on the way out (although that would have been odd given the very specific nature of the problem).

As long as Cave are aware of it, that's all I can ask for.

Sorry to hear that happens in training mode, I haven't played this game much myself and I've never tried the training mode. In most of Cave's other ports they don't even allow you to continue in training mode (which I don't like - it's TRAINING MODE after all, you're not submitting scores, so why can't you continue if you want to?). Hopefully the upcoming patch fixes this. Until then, just play it as in the arcades - from the start. As you said, continues don't lock up the game there.  :)

Seriously how has this not been addressed? I fucked up two runs this weekend that should have been new score records for me because of sudden, mysterious, Black Label freezes.

Are the Futari glitches far spread? I have never seen the graphic glitches in 1.5 or encountered the freezing/stuttering in Black Label even once.  ??? Maybe I'm just lucky.

I've encountered the graphical glitches in 1.5, but they only occur in 360 mode. Never saw them in 1.01's 360 mode, though.

As for BL, I suspect what people are complaining about is the split second freeze that occurs in the PCB version when many bullets are cancelled. As I acclimated to this after many hours on the original PCB, when I played the port, it felt spot on, rather than a "glitch". In other words, I've never experienced a quick in-game freeze in the X360 BL port that did not occur in the original PCB. I think this is why Cave ignored complaints about this problem. It is, however, still inexcusable for them to not patch the graphical glitches in ver 1.5's 360 mode.

The freeze thing seems to happen randomly to me, though the beginning of stage 1 and 2 are most often. Doesn't seem to be connected to bullet canceling (I've had it happen before any enemies even appeared). It's never affected my play; patching it isn't really critical.

The graphics thing happened to me once, on the stage 1 boss. Cleared up after I defeated it; I always felt the glitch was pretty minor. Does it happen to other people often?

Regardless, would Cave be the ones making the patch? If M2 did the port, wouldn't it be up to them?

I've had the 1.5 graphic glitch happen at the start of stage 5, and progress through to the end, where larsa was a garbled mess of graphical garbage. Made it basically unplayable. That only happened ONCE though, so it seems to occur less than 1% of the time.
