Like Plasmo I have only played this for one day in London. The difference is I fecking loved it. Here's my shit score, just to help pad out the table:

no new score but finally made the loop.

played the 1st loop in this run completely without bombs.
made it to the 2nd loop with 3 bombs and 0 lifes left.
was to nervos and died already at the 2-1 boss.
two deaths at stage 1-3 and one at stage 1-4.
thats why the score is a little bit low.
but i'm very happy that i finally made the loop. :D

Whoa, I never knew MrMonkeyMan was such a monster at Ketsui. I used to bum around on his Treasure forums a few years back. Crazy small world, the internets.

Just started playing Ketsui for score and I'm quite surprised at the amount of depth that this adds to the game. It also makes it one of the more demanding Cave titles, in my opinion, attention-wise with the relative bullet speed and density right from the get-go combined with the various scoring details. Maybe it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, but the controls feel a bit 'floaty' at times, as I often died during large bullet storms when my ship would somehow slide into an oncoming bullet when I could have sworn I stopped a few pixels short. Who can say.

Anyways, it's a weak showing, but:

I have been noticing that MMM is working on DDF-DFK, and he is a great player.

He will probably play this again soon, after clearing the DFK's tsuujou loop IMHO.

His first loop play is better than mine, so he might retake the #1 soon.

I don't think I will be clearing the Ura loop anytime soon (ever). I've only made it to the Ura loop 6 or 7 times. I always end up dying, or bombing somewhere.

I used to play starcraft sometimes. I was poor at normal games, so I usually played "use map settings" games. There are many interesting maps were created in Korea.
But now I have never been playing it for months, because I lose interests.

Does the ketsui pcb save scores? My scores are erased every time I power down, is it just a save score battery that needs replacing? If so is there anything I have to be careful of if I switch it? Don't want to kill a $900 pcb, lol.

Also, for those capable of reaching the 2nd loop, will the game allow you to access it directly? Is there a code you can input to get there like mmp? My pitiful score is around 28 million 1-3 with purple ship. Irks me a little, because my friend Jeremy is at 50 million at the end of stage 4 boss and he's only played the game mebbe 10 times. I must have pumped in at least 500 credits *sigh*

Got this game again in a trade the other day, put in about 5 credits and pulled out a 1-ALL clear after not playing it in about 2 months. Awesome. :righton:

Too bad the game doesn't say "1-ALL" when you clear the first loop. But I guess in the grand scheme of things, a 1-ALL doesn't mean much in this game (just like in the Pachi games).

Thanks, but I doubt Ketsui DS has anything to do with it (haven't played it in weeks, and I've only played about 6 hours total on it).
I think it has more to do with playing a lot of Futari 1.0 Maniac. That game has a similar difficulty to Ketsui's first loop, but with 2 less bomb carriers, 1 less life, and a harder end boss.

How'd you do on stage 5 of that run? Lots of bombs? I find its really, really hard if you don't bomb intelligently. I'd love to think that I could pass it without bombing, but that's a level of difficulty I'm not ready for yet.

Hey - pretty good starting score! You should be able to get a good 15-20 mil more with just a bit of practice. For my runs, I can hit ~65 mil through stage 4 with just some basic basic strategies. Although, I'm not exactly the world's premier Ketsui player anyways, so I'm sure you can do much better than me...

Futari Maniac did a lot to prepare me for Ketsui. Not just the bullets but the scoring as well. It doesn't strike me as anywhere near as hard as DOJ, but if the second loop is considered integral to the game then I've got a long way to go. Ketsui is a direct and to-the-point game and it'll probably keep me hooked for a bit.

Try scoring a bit more. Point-blanking stuff gets risky (and frustrating). I never really saw the Futari->Ketsui connection as much as the ESPGaluda 2 -> Ketsui one. In Futari, you get a lot more room to be far away and then rush the enemy when they spurt more out. In the other two, it's your proximity when you kill them that counts. That and you're only trying to be in close proximity part of the time.

st. 4 midboss with blue suicide bullets and no bomb was to much for me.
so the game changed back to red suicide bullets pretty fast.

I've just starting seriously playing for scoring this past week. I've owned the game in the past, but I was really just playing for a 1-ALL before, not focused on scoring. Now that I'm actively learning the stages (thank you, practice mode!) I'm enjoying it much more, and I expect my score to rise rapidly. The first loop is pretty easy to 1CC, and I can consistently no miss until Stage 5 now, so I just have to learn some parts of stage 5, learn to not bomb in a few spots in the earlier stages, and practice the stage 5 boss a bit, and then I should hopefully see the Omote loop soon. :righton:

I suicided just before the stage 5 boss in the hopes that it wouldn't show up in its 2nd loop form. Unfortunately this failed and the boss proceeded to rape me hard. Bombed the shit out of it and scraped through DOOM with no lives or bombs left.

I don't believe it's possible to score more than 900 million points. Even if I could beat the game without dying I would only get around 830 million. There's not a whole lot of room for improvement on bosses since you always get to them with a maxed out multiplier. Anymore points would have to come from the stages themselves and I don't think the points are there.

We need a pro player to come in and beat the game without dying to show us what's really possible.

I don't think they need to be marked. I've played Ketsui only on PCB before and I don't notice any differences now that I came back to it on MAME.

Not sure. Those who worked to get it into MAME testify that the game itself is identical, but the sound emulation is off. Same for DOJ/BL, and Espgaluda should follow.

really sorry for the late reply but i guess the questions ask have already been answered.
i don't think mame scores should be marked unless the game dosn't run at 100% speed or if enough people ask for it.
and for the cheating part we always can ask for inp or xbox live replays for scores over 200mill.
but i don't want to make it a requirement for this thread because people that play on the pcb can't record replays that easily.

Thanks! I decided I would start trying to incorporate some places to bomb during the patterns I usually have problems with. I particularly have problems with the cris-cross blue lines pattern from Stage 4 Boss, and also the final spray pattern from the Stage 4 mid boss (big blue balls with tiny long shots in between). Using the bombs helped to get me further than ever before. Unfortunately Stage 4 boss kicked my ass at the end.

Revised stages 1-2 to 1-4, and suddenly a huge improvement!

The highlight of the run by a long way was stage 2-3. I entered the stage with 0 lives and 1 bomb remaining, and cleared it with a spare life. :laugh: Needless to say, 2-4 wrecked me, but I'm happy to make it there for the first time and break 200m.
