Do most people who play Cave games play for score?

I work as a videogame developer and for me there is no more fun game than a CAVE shooter. The action, music, patterns, gimmicks, bullet-dodging etc...
These games gives me alot of inspiration and fun and I try to go for scores, but I am not really good at it, cant practice that much. (Have wife, kid, house and a big ass american car.  =D )

To bad my company only does FPS games...  :'(

Yeah, and my guess is that you have a hell of a lot more time to play games than those of us with real responsibilities like kids, wife, full-time job, mortgage, etc.

Bully for you if you can blast through all of Caves games with ease and want to chase scores, but there are plenty (most likely most of their fanbase) who don't have the time to do much more than play just for the actual challenge.

I have a wife and kid, the most demanding of jobs in terms of time, concentration, wits, stress, as well as a side job of feeding a lot of posters here with J-Shwag.  I try to keep my site updated with scans and translations which take tons of time.  I'm 34.  I still play for score.

Or you could just play for you know, fun.

A little ironic coming from a guy with 1000/1000 in Otomedius.

I wish I had more things to do through the day.  :-\

I'm perfectly happy with playing a pure Ikeda for 4 hours and I'll thoroughly enjoy myself. I primarily play games for survival, but not having a scoring system at all would be like having poached eggs without toast. It still tastes good, but it's incomplete.

Good for you, though I suspect you're in the minority.  I just don't have the time or concentration levels to be score-chasing, but you can rest-assured that I enjoy these games every bit as much as you do.

I was playing Space Giraffe the last couple of days and noticed your 1+ billion score in the leaderboards. If you can pull that off I'm pretty confident you could rack up reasonable scores in Cave games too ;)

Rumbled!  Well, actually, I got that score over a year ago now during a period where I wasn't working.  I haven't been able to get anywhere near those scores since, sadly.  I know I can do it, it's just having the time and energy to go that extra mile (with SG and the Cave games).  At least the Cave games are relatively short.  It takes the best part of 4 hours to get 1+ billion on SG...
